Hardcore Hand Creams.

Hi Everybody,

I am a great fan of hand creams. I have approximately 20 different hand creams and maybe I should have called this blog hand cream girl!

Before I came to England, I worked in the garden with my Mother as she has a business growing and selling flowers. As a result  my hands were cracked, dried and stained because of working in the garden. When I came to England I bought one hand cream as the pollution and the everyday tasks can affect the hands. Now working in a warehouse handling books all the time can dry them up so I always carry in my pocket a hand cream and apply some onto my hands at every opportunity. I’m always on the lookout to buy any new hand creams that come out in the market.

L’Occatine range – These are really excellent as they work into the skin well, not greasy at all and they smell beautiful. Great for these who have very dry skin.

Aveda – The smell is delicious! It smells like carrot cake. It is expensive though.

Ren Vetiver v7 – A very light texture but it absorbs really well into the skin.

Citrus Bergamot from Anthropologie –  A rich, thick consistency with a citrus smell.

Nivea – A budget, slighty greasy hand cream but it does well.  A good everyday hand cream that won’t cost you a lot of money.

Soap and Glory hand Food – Very strong smell and also too sweet for a hand cream.

Avon Planet Spa African Shea Butter – Like Soap and Glory, too strong for everyday use.

Body Shop – You know what you get from Body Shop. A great everyday cream that won’t break the bank.

Weleda Sea Buckthorn – A bit sticky when you put some on but the smell is light and very pleasant.

Mavala – Smells of lavender but absorbs well and not greasy.

OPI Sweet Sensations –  Small bottles of wonderful fruit hand creams. Work well and absorb nicely.

My Favourite of them all is Dr Organic Manuka Honey Hand & Nail Cream – My second bottle, even though the smell isn’t to everybody’s taste. You really have to work it into your hands but it lasts for such a long time. I apply it before I go to bed and when I wake up in the morning, I can still feel the softness of my hands as it is such a great moisturizer. Worth every penny of the £5.69 is my view.

What are your favourite hand creams, please leave a comment as I love to hear from you.

Liz Earle Skin Secrets Book.

Hi Everybody,

This will be a review of the one best beauty books you can buy. If there is one book that covers everything you need to look after yourself  with natural products, it’s this one. Liz Earle is one of the most passionate believers of natural products you can find and this book gives you all information you need to follow the path of it and the benefits not just to you but to the environment we live in. Liz Earle is also successful with her beauty range she co-founded in 1995 and highly recommended they are too!

The great thing about this book is the detail and range of what she writes about. Everything  from what skin type you are to discussing the different oils and their benefits, to organic food  to skin problems and looking after your mind and body through recipes and easy to follow exercises. All this wonderful information is written in a easy to understand manner which for me is important! This book is just great to dip in when you need too when you need some quick information and I’m always reading a chapter or 2.

So, please buy a copy of this book, you will not be disappointed by it, many thanks Liz for your contribution to the beauty world !

On My Nails – Barry M Magnetic Burgundy.

Hi everybody,

Like most women, I like to paint my nails. Colours of all shades appeal to me and I like to experiment with different things. Once upon a time you just had different colours, now you have crocodile, leather and even sandpaper effect nail polishes! I have always been intrigued by magnetic paints and wanted to see if they worked. Wandering around Boots, I spotted the Barry M magnetic colour in burgundy.and decided to give it a go. The colour is beautiful, a real red wine colour. The polish is quite thick in consistency.

Applying it on my nails, I have found it very difficult to recreate the stripy pattern they show on the bottle. I read the instructions beforehand to make sure everything would be OK and the final finish didn’t come out well. On one hand there was a pattern but the other hand no pattern was visible. In a previous post , I mentioned that the Barry M Chritsmas edition stayed on for a week but this one lasted 3 days even though I used base coat and a top coat.  I was very disappointed with this and I wondered if it was me? I will try another brand of magnetic type in the future but I’m not sure if they will have be such a nice colour as this one.

Please let me know if you have tried a magnetic nail polish, I love to hear from you all.
