Cleansing Balms

Cleansing balms are the first routine I use when I finish my day and I want to remove my make-up. This is the first step that I use. Today, I will go through the 3 balms I have been using recently. They are affordable, do the job and make my skin feel clean.

The first one is from Champneys Super Rich Cleansing Balm. Ruth from ‘A Model Recommends’ reviewed this and like this a lot. It is for normal to dry skin and it is perfect for the autumn/winter as it is quite dry then. It is a thick, grainy consistency but when rubbed into the skin( a pea-sized amount is enough)  it becomes an oil and you remove it with a soaked muslin cloth.  Skin is left clean, refreshed, hydrated and super clean. Super luxury for only £13.00.

Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm was another a recommendation which I had to try. Botanics is one of Boots the Chemist own range,  the quality of the products and prices are fantastic compared to other makers. This is a 97% organic product with nourishing rosehip oil. It feels like a beeswax, a thick feel which like Champneys becomes oily when rubbed into the skin. Like the Champneys I use a small pea-sized amount of it and make circular motions around your face and neck and remove with a muslin cloth. Another product which considering the price is a wonderful product to use and the skin feels super soft, refreshed and treats the skin.  You don’t need to use a lot of it so a pot will go a long way. Wonderful product for all skin types.

Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Balm is quite different from the two previous ones. It feels like lard! But it warms between your fingers and then feels like oil. It is very good at removing the make-up and is gentle to the skin. Like the others you use a flannel or cloth to remove the excess from your skin and wash with water and second cleanse. £12.00 is very good value and a pot will last a long time.

All three are great value and will do the job of removing the make-up and cleansing your skin.

Remember girls, don’t go to sleep with make-up and love your skin!

Giorgio Armani ‘Si’ EDP

I  haven’t done a perfume review for awhile so I decided on sharing my thoughts on the Giorgio Armani Si. I  received the perfume for Christmas and it has been used quite often since.

The first thing I will talk about is the elegant bottle which is in the shape of a flame. The form of the bottle resembles a gentle burning candle and is beautiful to view.

Onto the perfume, the first thing I noticed when you spray is the fruity, floral sweetness of it. It isn’t an overpowering scent because of the warmth and sweetness of the vanilla and patchouli. I find it a nice balance of sweetness and spicy.

I think this is a perfect autumn/winter fragrance for those chilly days and is great for the day or night for this sexy, feminine, grown-up perfume.

Weleda Skin Food.

Hi Everybody,

We are in our cold miserable period where the dryness on our skin appears the most. We now have to use some good products to help our skin and the Weleda Skin Food is the one I will be reviewing.

In 1921 the doctor Ita Wegman (1876-1943) opened the Clinical and Therapeutic Institute in Arlesheim in Switzerland, a hospital using anthroposophical medicine for treating people who had became ill. The chemist Oskar Schmiedel (1887-1959), along with Dr. Wegman and Dr. Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), developed the first pharmaceutical products whose concept has formed the basis for Weleda’s product philosophy to this day.

Weleda Skin Food is one of Weleda’s oldest products  with original formulation since 1926 and has been winning awards ever since. It is a multi purpose cream which you can use from head to toe and is perfect for any age and sex. My husband gets dry skin patches on his face and uses it every day. It is a thick, cream made with organic sunflower seed oil, and extracts of wild pansy, chamomile, calendula and  rosemary extract. The smell is pleasant with refreshing essential oils including sweet orange.  I used it  when I was ill,  I  had a runny and sore nose and I applied the skin food and I immediately noticed a difference. It soothed the soreness and the redness and dryness had gone. You can even use it as your day and night cream if you wish. It is the multi-purpose miracle worker which really works and it is not hard to find the legions of fans (Victoria Beckham, Adele to name a few) who love it as much as I do!

It  really is one of the best products out there that you can find, it is all-natural, and one of the bargains on the high street. Go and buy some!

December Favourites

Hi All,

Happy New Year for 2015 and wish you all the best for the year.

I have skipped a few months of favourites so here are my favourite things I used for the last month.

Body Shop White Musk Smoky Rose Body Wash – It was a freebie when I purchased a few things in-store. The Body Shop shower gels are all beautiful and make you smell glorious! A lovely bergamot and rose scent with a sweet floral finish.

Weleda Birch Body Scrub – My second one I have used, all natural products with added beeswax pearls which improve the skin tone and appearance. A lot of body scrubs have added sugary grains which may be sensitive to some people. This is a more gentle scrub and is a wonderful product to use.

Body Shop Shea Beautifying Oil –  Perfect for the cold months as it is a dry oil which moisturises, smoothes and illuminates the body. You only need a small amount and you need time for it to sink into your skin. It’s worth it though as the skin feels so smooth afterwards.

Bioderma Hydrabio Legere – I purchased this as part of a set when I visited Paris and is a beautiful hydrating light cream for those of us who have dehydrated and sensitive skin. This has made a difference to my skin and it has helped to control the redness when it appears. Good for combination skin I think and I will have to look for the larger bottle.

Aromatherapy Associates Rose Hydrating Mist – This smells like soured roses! If you can get over that, It does moisturise and hydrate when you get the feeling of dryness just to instantly freshen your skin. It can be used over make-up and is good for all skin types unless you have an allergy to roses.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo – This is still on test with me. I didn’t really notice much difference when using it. I stopped using it, used something and came back to it and I really did see a difference when my skin had slight blemishes. It was excellent under make-up and foundation didn’t slide off. Will buy another and try again.

REN Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel – You don’t have to apply all the time but when your eyes are feeling dry and de-hydrated. it absorbs very easily and refreshes the eyes because of the gel has a cooling effect, especially in the mornings when your eyes are feeling puffy.

No 7 Instant Radiance Foundation – My second bottle and I need another one. Does exactly what it says, a perfect colour, blends easily and gives a boost to tired and stressed skin. The packaging is superb, no waste as it is squeezed from the base of the bottle and everything comes out unlike others! A great travel size with the plastic bottle.

NYX ‘Bourgeois Pig’ Blush – Used all the time during December, it’s a lovely dusty rose pink blush. Quite pigmented so you don’t need to use a lot unless you want to go for the look of a clown!

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara –  First time I have used this mascara and it’s great magazines provide sample sizes so you can test them. This is good mascara, doesn’t crumble or leave you with panda eyes. Separates the lashes well with a good bristle rather than the plastic ones. Good volume when applied.

Maybelline Moisturizing Extreme ‘Raspberry Sorbet’ – A perfect autumn, winter lipstick, doesn’t dry out and your lips have the wow factor. A lovely raspberry colour with great long lasting colour.

Anthropologie Citrus Bergamot Hand Cream – I have reviewed this before and I haven’t seen it since I purchased it. Now finished and a wonderful product, lovely  citrus scent and great absorption onto the skin.

Balance Me Rose Otto Hand Cream– As it is winter you do need a rich hand cream and this is a perfect. Non -greasy and leaves the hands feeling like velvet gloves! Smells of roses and herbs. An excellent product.

L’Occitane Au Bresil  Vitoria Regia Hand Cream -I purchased this during the summer while the World Cup was in Brazil. It is a very light, watery hand cream which moisturizes very well. The scent is perfumed and sweet, I haven’t seen it since but L’Occitane do some wonderful hand creams so you cannot go wrong with their range of products anyway!

Have a wonderful New Year and please get in contact with me as I love to hear from everybody!
