Happy Valentine’s Day to all you lovers out there. Lots of flowers, chocolates and love I hope!
Inspired by the day, I decided to do a bit of nail art. As always I applied base coat using Leighton Denny’s ‘One For All’. I used for the first time, Body Shop’s Colour Crash in ‘Relish the Moment’. It is a beautiful red and the formula is superb. It applies wonderfully and I only had to apply one coat as it gave such a lovely deep colour. I used CND ‘Brilliant White’ and with a dotting tool applied two little dots and joined them together to make the hearts. Once dried I applied top coat. I waited a few minutes then I used Mavala ‘Mava Dry’ which helps to dry the nail polish as I was rushing to get to work! This is a fantastic product, I only wished I had bought it earlier as it dries the nails so quickly.
Lots of kissed to you all.
I was offered a great opportunity to do a four day course with Dermalogica. The company was founded in 1986 and is the leading brand for skin care and is the number one choice for professionals. They concentrate on skin health and teach beauticians/therapists to be skin therapists. I had heard and seen them at the beauty shows but never had the chance to use them.
When I was at the Beauty show at Olympia, I had the opportunity to be given a face mapping of my skin and the condition of my skin. I then understood the depth, knowledge and professionalism of the therapists and the company. I became inspired and wanted to know more about skin care and how to be a skin care therapist rather then just been a beauty therapist!
Working at Dynamic Beauty and Hair, the owner and friend, Maria said that I was going with them to do Dermalogica Live for the four day course at the office in Leatherhead, Surrey. I could not say no at a wonderful opportunity to learn this!
The four day course really showed me the high standards that they set to get the best for the clients. This is a not a business opportunity to get money out of people, but a real desire to help people and their skin. They understand it is important to teach therapists how to understand skincare so they can help clients understand and look after their skin. This was a great chance to try the products themselves and to do facials on each other to understand them.
I completed the four day ‘certified’ course and I am now doing the second course to be a ‘Specialist’. It is more in-depth on the skin condition, types and the products to be used. The final part is to be ‘Expert’ which I will complete in the future.
If your salon near you uses Dermalogical products, you can get for free a face mapping skin analysis from the therapist.
I have to say thank you to Maria from Dynamic for giving me the opportunity to do the course, it means a lot to me.
I was feeling creative and inspired, so I created a very simple effect that anyone can do. A marble effect which gives a lovely pattern to your nails.
You do need to protect your nails so use a base coat before applying the nail polish. I used Leighton Denny’s ‘One For All’ which is a base coat, top coat, ridge filler and a clear gloss coat. You can use any colours to create the effect. I used Mavala’s ‘Mexico’ which is a dark purple and ‘Violette’ which is a light purple pastel colour. I painted my nails with the Mexico colour. I let it dry and then I did a second coat with it and while it is still wet I added three drops of the lighter ‘Violette’ shade to my nails. Then you start the creative process! With a dotting tool (or a toothpick if you don’t have the tool), you start the light swirling movement to to mix the colours together create the marble effect. Once dried, apply the top coat. A lovely effect which is easy to do. Have a go!
This is my 100th post of my blog since I started writing this in June 2012. Thank you to everybody who has read my blog and have commented on it, It means a lot to me.
Today, I will talk about the benefits of using lemons to help not just my skin but my whole body. I started reading about the benefits of lemon for your body. I have always used lemons in tea but never thought about using lemon juice in warm water in the morning before you drink or eat anything else. Other people start with coffee, I now have since the start of the year, lemon in warm water ( not boiling!) every day when I get up. I don’t use a lot of lemon, just a good squeeze of 1/2 a lemon and drink it in one go. I do think that wonderful citrus smell does give a sense of happiness and cheers you up. The smell on your hand is uplifting and gives me a feeling of the summer.
The benefits of using lemon is because it is so high in vitamin C. It boosts your immune system and helps fight infections. Vitamin C is vital for healthy skin because its alkaline properties kills some types of bacteria known to cause you acne. Vitamin C can also rejuvenate the skin from within your body. It also promotes wound healing and is an essential part in the maintenance of healthy bones.
Lemons are also high in potassium which help the brain and nervous systems and help your blood pressure. Lemons help flush out the nasty toxins in your body and help when you have indigestion such as heartburn and burping. Lemon juice and the warm water helps the immune system by hydrating and replacing fluids lost by your body. You know when your body is lacking water because you feel tired, lack energy, feeling stressed and don’t sleep very well.
Natural products like lemons are better for you than the man-made capsules we use so much of. Some people do have an allergy to Vitamin C but they are different natural products you can use instead. What other product can do as much to help your body look and feel wonderful than the simple lemon?
