Escada ‘Cherry In The Air’ EDT.

Hi Everybody,

Escada. My love of perfume began with an Escada perfume. It was ‘Born in Paradise’ but I have never owned it as it was one of their yearly limited edition scents.  But I still want it!

Cherry in the Air is their 2013 offering so it is limited edition. The packaging is beautiful. Inspired by the French landscape, a girl in a pretty summer dress on a bike is full of joy and happiness.  It really does cheers you happy and makes me smile when I remove it from the box.

The scent is pure summer, a basket full of summer fruits and floral. The dark, deep cherries give you the sweetness and sharpness which make it a beautiful scent but it also has marshmallows in it. Cherry mashmallows, what a sweet combination! The added warmth of the sandalwood gives it extra depth so it is isn’t just another sweet fragrance. For a Eau de Toilette it is so long-lasting on me. I even wear it in the winter just to remind of the summer.

It is a sexy, sweet, girly fragrance and I love it!

Here Comes The Sun!

Hi Everybody,

Summer has arrived in the UK! We have been bathed in sunshine over the last few days but you still have to wear protection from the sun.

It is important to wear some SPF protection under your moisturizer or wear it on its own. It is always good to have some sun because of the added Vitamin D to the body but you shouldn’t bake in the sun as that will cause damage to your skin. Sunscreen protection offers us some protection to harmful UVB and UVA rays.

Sunscreens with a higher SPF should offer more protection from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. An SPF 15 sunscreen blocks 93 percent of UVB radiation, while an SPF 30 sunscreen blocks nearly 97 percent.

Two of the products I use on my face are Eucerin Sun Creme which is a SPF 30 and protects from UVB and UVA. I add to my moisturizer as it doesn’t have any SPF protection.

The second product is Ultrasun Professional Protection for Face. This is also SPF 3o and has both UVB and UVA protection. It is anti-ageing sun protector for very sensitive skin with anti-ageing properties.

For the body I use two products. Boots Soltan suncare lotion is a SPF 50 with UVA and UVB. My husband has pale skin so he uses this one. I also use Pin Buin Instant Glow Skin Illuminating Sun Spray. This is a double-action product as it gives a glow and a touch of shimmer to the body. Very good for us pale skin girls and it also gives SPF 30 UVB and UVA protection like the others. It is a not a self-tanning product though!

So don’t be a lobster, wear some sun protection!

SJP Lovely Sheer EDP.

Hi Everybody,

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Lovely came out in 2005 and this new Lovely Sheer perfume came out earlier this year.

The bottle shape is the same as the original but now the glass has a muted effect to it. It is almost a moonstone when you look at it. It has a light pink ribbon too around the neck, a nice touch.

The fragrance itself is a fresh, clear citrus scent. It opens with oranges, bergamot and a hint of mandarin. The dry notes you can feel the woody amber but you can still smell the citrus notes. It is a cool rather than warm fragrance so it is idea for the spring/summer. It is also a light scent and not heady so perfect for the daytime. It is a sophisticated, subtle feminine fragrance, just like the lady herself!

Bronzers before Sunset!

Hi Everybody.

If we get a summer here in Britain, it would be nice to use a bronzer to add extra warmth to your skin. You can still do of course but it would be nice to get a nice suntan too!

There are so many bronzers in the market that I would love to try but here are a few of my favourites that I really like as they are good for us who have pale skin and need that extra warmth.

Two Body Shop bronzers to start. One is a ’01 light’ which is a matte finish, it is a perfect shade for pale skin. Not to orange and you can build this product nicely where the sun hits you.

The second Body Shop bronzer is ’02 warm glow‘ differs to the first one as it has a slight shimmer to it to give you a glow sun-kissed look. A really nice shade that you can build nicely with too.

L’Oreal Glam Broze Eau de Soleil differs as it is in a liquid form but you can buy as a powder or as a cushion. This is not a favourite as it is to dark for me but would be perfect for someone who is slightly darker because of the orange tones. It does like nice on the skin and blends easily.

Vita Liberata Luxury Tan comes with a kabuki brush ( the brush is of nice quality but soft)This is a lovely shade and only apply it where the sun hits the face and not on all of the face. It looks wonderful on the skin and is a lovely matt texture to it.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer is the newest bronzer to my collection. People raved about this so I had to give it a go. This also has a matte finish to it and is easy to apply and blends very nicely. A good product but I do love my Body Shop bronzers as I think they suit my skin type better.

With bronzers the secret is not to put on too much on the brush and swirl it and tap the excess amount off and it will blend easily onto the skin.

Enjoy the summer and get bronzed up!

Perfect Brows With The Perfect Tools!

Hi Everybody,

It is fashionable now to have the full, shaped, defined brow look. If you look throughout ages the fashion of eyebrows goes from pencil thin eyebrow to a fuller eyebrow. Just look at the 1920s actress Clara Bow with her dramatic look to the fuller look of Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn in the 1950s and 1960s. History repeats itself, it goes from thick to thin! The overdrawn, highly defined look is in, the natural look is out. Because of this popular look, companies are now bringing out more and more brow products. Makeup artists say that your eyebrows are sisters and not twins! I think this is a perfect explanation of our brows.

I have tried a few brow products and I think they will be perfect if you have over-plucked eyebrows or to fill the gaps where your hair doesn’t grow.I do have a gap on the ends so I need something something to fill them in.

Sleek Brow Kit in ‘Light’ is a travel friendly kit with 2 mini brushes and small tweezers and a small mirror. It has 2 products, a powder and a waxy texture product. I do prefer the powder myself as it gives a more natural look. It is an affordable and quite good quality kit.

Beauty UK high brow all in one brow definition kit has a tweezer and brush but comes with 4 products, 3 shades for different shades of hair and a clear wax to set the brows. Good pigmentation, sets well on the brows and good value for money. I wish it had a mirror though.

Soap & Glory Archery in ‘Brownie Points’ is a brow tint and precision shaping pencil. It is a double ended pencil.  Starting with the felt-tip tint,  you use light strokes to fill in any gaps and add fullness, then flip it to use the pencil end to draw in the perfect shape. It is the perfect shade for me and it is my favourite. It is so easy to work with.

I have been using two Benefit products. Benefit are going big on brows this year. These were freebies from the magazines and a great idea to try before you buy. Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil is similar to the Soap & Glory as it is a pencil to fill the gaps and the other end has a spoolie to comb your brows. I really like this product. Benefit Ready, Set , Brow is a setting gel with a perfect brush. It takes the perfect amount of product to set the brows and the brows keep the shape all day with no flakiness. I really like this product, Benefit have a winner with this product! I am really impressed with these two Benefit products.

June Favourites!

Mid way through the year, time is going so fast..

Here are some of my favourites (and not a favourite!) for June.

Pixi Glow Getters ‘Radiant Light’ Palette – This is a set of 6 highlighting finishing powders. The colours are muted without sparkle when you want a subtle finish. They are nicely pigmented and give a beautiful shine to the skin. The shades are so wearable that any kind of skin type will enjoy this palette. A lovely palette but it’s a shame the packaging is a bit basic considering it is £24.00.

Rimmel by Kate Sculpting Palette in ‘Coral Glow’ – This is a very nice sculpting palette with 3 products: A highlighter, contour and blush. Perfect for your handbag or if you go on holiday and don’t want to take many products with you. I’m not a contouring girl but I occasionally like to play with contouring. The contouring shade is perfect for us with pale skin and the pigmentation is very good as well. A nice quality budget option from Rimmel.

Kevyn Aucoin The Essential Mascara – This mascara really defines, lengthens and curls your lashes. The crescent shaped brush applies the mascara without touching the lid or clumping the lashes. What a great mascara!

Neals Yard Busy Bee Balm – The weather in the UK hasn’t been great of late and the wind has dried my lips and I remembered that I had this balm. I have been using this quite often and this has helped with my dryness. It is also multi-purpose so you can use it on your cuticles and other dry areas if needed. Briliant product.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipstick in ‘Devotion’ – I’m not a fan of matte lipsticks but this could change my mind on them if other products are as good as this! A really nice pink shade and it smells nice as well. It doesn’t dry my lips and is very long-lasting.

Max Factor Excess Intensity Longwear Eyeliner – Oh dear. This is such a disappointing product. It applies so badly and you have to drag your eyes for any colour to appear. My eyelids were so sore after applying it. a beautiful colour but it started to crumble during the day! It is also waterproof so you need to remove with waterproof eye make up remover. Horrible product in my view.

Invisbobble Grip Hair Ring –  I was curious if this product would work. It looks like old telephone cable! It is easy to put on the hair and it doesn’t tangle or pull the hair. But you do have to be careful when you remove it though!

The Body Shop Almond Nail & Cuticle Oil Pen – I really enjoy this product, especially when I’m in bed and apply it on myself and my husband! I like the fact it is a brush rather than a pipette. Easy to use and I have found it works brilliantly in helping the dry parts around the nails.

Aurelia Miracle Cleanser – A nice everyday make-up remover, the skin looks good after removing it. I do like a creamy rather than oil based cleansers. Not sure if it is a miracle cleanser but it cleaned the skin well.

Exuviance Purifying Clay Masque – I’m not familiar with this brand but if other products are as good as this I will buy more from them! It is an intense masque which removes impurities, refines pores and conditions the skin. If you are prone to blemishes and breakouts I would recommend this product. When I removed this after 5-10 minutes, my skin looked fantastic after using it. I will get a full-size version of this.

Roads Cloud 9 Perfume – This is a sample but the scent is wonderful. It is a clean, fresh , floral fragrance. It is so long lasting and becomes softer and warmer over the day. A beautiful fragrance.

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Re-Balancing Shampoo & Conditioner – A repeat purchase. It is a shampoo for oily roots and dry ends. I love this shampoo and it really gives balance to my hair by hydrating and purifying my hair.

The Body Shop Peppermint Smoothing Pumice Foot Scrub – It is a thick jelly with grains in it and it really smells of peppermint! It exfoliates the foot well and it does soften the skin. I’m not convinced it really helps with really rough skin as I think you still need to use a pumice foot stone or foot file to do that. It gives a nice freshness to your feet though.
