Rosie Huntington-Whiteley isn’t just a model and actress but also has a range of lingerie, make -up and perfume with the great British high street Marks & Spencer. Her perfumes are part of the Autograph range that bares her name. The first Rosie Huntington-Whiteley perfume was simply called Rosie and was brought into the market in 2015. Since then two more perfumed have been added to the range.
The first fragrance has been incredibly successful and was a winner of a Fragrance Foundation award for best new celebrity fragrance. The bottle is a simple faceted rectangle shape and the weight make it feel a quality product. The rose coloured cap and name plate looks classy and quality. I like the ‘Rosie’ signature and the rose emblem is on the cap as well. The scent is made from the Centifolia rose harvested in Grasse so there is warm, vanilla silk touch to it. It also has a vintage feel which is very pleasant. It is a nice floral fragrance with hint of woodiness to it. It is a heady and sexy perfume. It could easily wear this in the daytime or evening.
The second perfume, also launched in 2015, is Rosie Nuit Parfum. This still has the rose element but a more fruitiness to it. Blackcurrent is there as top note but you can diffently feel musk and woodiness in the dry down. More of a darker, night time feel to it and is certainly warmer in feel.
The latest perfume added to the range is Summer Rose. This is inspired by her love of Thailand. By adding Thai Jasmine it gives it a green, fresh, floral fruity scent. After all the green freshness, you can feel the pear and blackcurrent but the warmth from the musk and woodiness still comes through. Of the three, I do like this one the most.
One of the great things is that they are affordable and are distinctive from the usual celebrity fragrances we now see so much. I leave you with this quote from the first fragrance.
The first breaking rays of dawn,
The first touch of sunlight on skin,
The first dew on a rose in bloom,
The first time that I saw you.
I did a little bit of shopping this week. Lots of lovely things to buy and lots of nice prices as well!
I popped into various shops in Brighton. I went to the Neals Yard shop in the North Laines, the KIKO and Debenhams stores in Churchill Square and of course I had to go into Boots!
I purchased a couple of things I really wanted to try and test from Neal’s Yard. I picked up the Organic Defence Hand Spray, which is a spray to clean your hands. It is a blend of various essential oils including Witchazel, Lavender and Thyme The 50ml bottle is perfect for the handbag. The Organic Make-Up Remover claims it removes even waterproof make-up. It smells of sour rose and white tea and I hope the smell doesn’t put me off!
KIKO is always worth a look to see what the offers are and always nice products and such good value. I picked up from the sale Mirage Lip Stylo No9 ‘Rossetto’. The packaging is cool with the magnetic closure. The colour is a beautiful pink fuschia. It glides beautifully on the lips and is a very sexy colour and looks fantastic.
I picked up two lipsticks from Boots. Soap & Glory new lipstick collection, Sexy Mother Pucker. The colour is a‘Pink Cushion‘ but too me it isn’t in pink but more of a subtle coral shade. It is a really nice lipstick, so easy to wear it and does not dry the lips out. Boots now sell NYX, so I purchased the famous butter gloss that everybody loves in the colour ‘Strawberry Cheesecake‘. It is sooo good, so pigmented and so long lasting and it looks divine. A fantastic lip gloss.
I always like looking at the Debenhams beauty section, the store in Brighton has such a varied product range compared to the smaller stores. I picked up a Korres Almond Cherry Body Milk. I tried a mini sample of body milk and I was very impressed. This time I picked up a different version and if you like cherries you will love this one, such a lovely scent. Debenhams had a sale of L’Occitane products so I picked up mini travel size bag with mini products. All of them are from the Almond range of products. It has small travel sizes of skin oil, almond milk, shower oil, hand cream and small exfolitating soap. I will be very nutty after using all this! I really like these travel size offers, they are so useful to try these smaller products to give you a better idea if you like these products.
We will see if any of these products become favourites in the future!
I thought I should do another nail post as it’s still summer and you still want to have some happiness and brightness to life.
I choose Nails Inc Gel Effect polish in Kensington Passage. It is a nice, bright coral colour, perfect for summertime parties and all that jazz.
It is a pigmented colour, so intense and it applies so easily and stroke free. One coat is enough and it coats the nail perfectly. It really does look like you have gel nails. Like always, I applied Mavala base coat but for the top coat, I applied Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat. Both are good products to protect the colour on your nail.
I hope you like the colour and have a fun weekend!
I decided to share some of my reading material of beauty related books.
First up is the Awakening Beauty: The Dr. Hauschka Way. This is written by Susan West Kurz , who co-founded Dr Hauschka Skin Care Inc in the United States and developed the brand from a niche brand to the pre-eminent holistic skin care brand we know today.
This book is a practical, easy to read and understand book. She explains that anyone can achieve true beauty by looking after your mind and body through various ways. It can be diet, lifestyle and of course, skin care. In the age where we idolize youth, this book proves you don’t need to resort to needles and knives to achieve both inner and outer beauty. A beautiful book and I have bought a few products from the Dr Hauschka range because of this book.
One of my favourite quotes is below:
‘If only you would smile, you would be beautiful,’ my mother sometimes said to me when I was a young girl. As I grew older, other adults continued to point out characteristics that if changed would make me more beautiful. Eventually, I took over the job of critiquing my appearance. I often told myself that if my nose were straighter, or my eyes less deep-set, or my hips a little smaller, I would indeed be beautiful.
The next book is Nature’s Beauty Secrets by Dawn Gallagher. She is a former model who’s travelled around the world visiting some of the best spas in the world. She shares her knowledge, recipes and beauty tips she discovered while visiting them and recreating some of the experiences for your home. The simple, inexpensive techniques can be enjoyed by everybody with ingredients you have in your kitchen. A great read but I would like to visit some of the spas though!
Part 2 coming soon.
I haven’t done a nail design post for a while so here is what’s on my nails today. I decided to use my WAHLondon Dreamy Days kit for the design. This is a nice set in a acrylic draw design. Inside you get a nail art pen, 2 pack of nail stickers ( peace and a palm tree design), 3 sponges and 2 nail polishes.’Slicker Than Your Average’ is a bright, bubblegum pink and LA Day is a creamy peach colour. They also provide a easy-to-follow tutorial to recreate a look for your nails.
First of all I used a Mavala base coat and then applied a coat of ‘LA Day’ on all my nails and let them dry. ( they gave a matte effect) They did go streaky so you have to work quite quickly. I then took one of the sponges and using the most pointed corner you apply a little of the ‘Slicker Than Your Average’ polish and lightly dab to halfway down the nail to create a fade effect. I applied some more pink polish on the ends of the nail to give a deeper colour to give Ombre effect. I then applied a sticker ( I choose the ‘Peace’ sign) and pressed the sticker with an orange stick to flatten them down and even on the nail. I then finished with a Mavala top coat to seal the design.
This is a very summery design I think and the kit is easy to use and is a perfect addition for any nail kit lover.
Hope you like it!
I have two products to compare against each other. They both do the same thing but at different price points.
YSL Touche Eclat is one of the most famous beauty products in the entire world. One is sold every 10 seconds, making one of the most successful beauty products in the world. It is not just a concealer though. It is a a multi-tasking product. You can hide dark circles illuminate and sculpt parts of the face with this product. You should also choose a lighter shade than your skin. You have plenty of shades available to find the right one for you.
Is it any good? It is. It is worthy of the love that so many people have for it. I love the fact it is in a pencil form, it’s so easy to apply with and you can just have it in your handbag and re-apply when you require. The brush is soft and doesn’t dry out when you use it to re-apply. It doesn’t dry out through the day and it only creased when I smiled at the end of the day! It has a beautiful light texture and it is so easy to blend and sinks and sets so well onto the skin. It gives wonderful coverage to your skin.
Seventeen Skin WOW Concealer is cheaper, budget alternative to Touche Eclat. The all-gold packaging with the click button action is a copy of Touche Eclat! You have two shade options, fair and medium. When you use the product again, the brush will dry out so you will need to warm up the brush on your hand before you apply it to your face. As the consistency is thicker than Touche Eclat, it will slightly dry out the area where you have worked it onto your skin. These are minor issues as it is excellent product for the price.
It is a bit unfair in comparing these two products together as they are the only ones I have tried so far as there are so many brands who now make their own versions. But both products have given me a better understanding of how these concealers work so I like both of them. The Seventeen WOW Concealer is a great budget version. Touche Eclat is one of the greatest beauty products ever made and is worthy of so much love.
Seven months gone…. it will be Christmas soon.
Here are some of my favourites from the past month.
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Clarifying Lotion – I always like a lotion to my skincare routine and this lotion is good for oily, blemish prone skin as it helps to eliminate remaining excess oil, unblock pores and visibly reduce their size. Skin feels smoother and balances the breakouts . It really does make the skin feel squeaky clean!
Mavala Revitalizing Emulsion For Tired Legs – This is a lightweight lotion which smells like a mens aftershave balm. It is a fantastic product as it really works in helping the legs feel fresh and relive aching on your lower legs. The lotion absorbs into the legs easily and leaves them feeling cool and smooth.
Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – This dry shampoo elevates greasy roots and has a gentle formula and has no heavy scent to it unlike others. It also adds volume and texture to the hair after a day of not washing your hair. It really is good to try all the different dry shampoos on the market and this company has been making them since 1971 so they know what they are doing! A really excellent product.
Moroccanoil Treatment – I have never tried anything from this range. I do find that my ends are dry as I use a hairdryer so I like to add a few drops of oil to the ends to help them. It is a lightweight formula with a very slight scent to it. It really has helped my dry ends and doesn’t make them feel greasy.
Grounded Coffee Scrub with Chocolate Orange – Packaging is like a product of ground coffee but be careful when using it in the shower as it goes everywhere! This is not like a normal scrub, it is a dry formula scrub so you put some into your hands and rub it in. Your skin becomes black, just like coffee. I like the roughness when you rub it in so you know it is a good exfoliator. You can use it on your face but I do not recommend this as it will be to abrasive for your face, especially if you have sensitive skin or prone to redness. My body afterwards smelt of coffee and chocolate orange and it felt quite uplifting. I really like it.
Clarins Eau Des Jardins Smoothing Body Cream – This is a lightweight cream with a beautiful, citrus scent which is really uplifting. It absorbs easily into the body and is non-greasy and is so smoothing on the body. It’s perfect for summer and keeping the body moisturized.
Benefit ‘Gimme Brow’ – It has been out for a while but for me it’s new! The tiny tapered brush has microfibres which allows to fill your brows, fill in the gaps and create a thicker, fuller look and keeps the brows in place. It is a fantastic product and I will have to purchase the bigger size!
