Hi Everybody,

1991 marked the birth of  a brand that has redefined make-up and the role of it in women’s lives:Bobbi Brown.

It all started in 1991 when Bobbi Brown teamed up with a chemist and with $5,000 and 10 lipsticks changed make-up for ever. The natural shades invented changed lipsticks forever but she did stop there. Just a year later, she invented yellow-based foundation sticks. This may seem nothing special but for the make-up it was revolutionary. Before this, women used the wrong foundation shades which were mainly pink based which do not given even tone. Bobbi’s yellow based foundations evened out the tone of your skin. Her company was bought in 1995 by Estee Lauder. Leonard Lauder told Bobbi “I want you to keep doing what you’re doing” – and she has ever since!

Now it sells 23 million products a year, available in over 70 countries and sold in over 2000 stores. She has written 8 books and has even created a line of eyeglass wear!

She has been at the forefront of the no-makeup makeup look before it was even on Instagram. She has shown to us how to feel our best in the skin we were born with and how all women can be empowered.  The Pretty Powerful campaign shows us to be who you are.

I was lucky to meet her, all to briefly, at the Vogue Festival 2015 when she was walking around on that Sunday morning. The Bobbi Brown PA who was accompanying her asked if we would like to meet her. I have to say I was speechless and wanted to cry as she is such an inspiration to me. She was kind, polite and oh so sweet to me. Even my husband was speechless to meet her!

I want to end this post with a few quotes from the lady herself.

‘I believe that all women are pretty without make up – but with the right make up can be pretty powerful.’

‘Beauty isn’t about looking perfect. It’s about celebrating your individuality.’

‘I look at a woman and I don’t see what’s wrong with her. I see what’s right.’

The secret to beauty is simple, be who you are.’

Thank you Bobbi.
