Lancome Tresor ‘Midnight Rose’ EDP.

img_8379

Hi Everybody,

I do have a soft scent for Lancome products since I came to live in the UK. My husband bought me my first Lancome Beauty Box for Christmas, I have loved their products and their perfumes ever since. I now own 3 perfumes from Lancome.

Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose is a perfume for the autumn/ winter time but I do occasionally wear it in the summer. The scent is a heady mixture of berries, particular blackcurrents and raspberries and soft floral notes. There is also a nice blend of slight woodiness to it.

My bottle is a beautiful shape with an ombre effect to the bottle. The fabric purple rose is a lovely touch to the design of the bottle. The colour is perfect.  If you had to describe the fragrance as a colour, it would be the deep purple. I think 20s upwards could wear this scent, it is a mixture of sophistication, feminine and mystery. 1 or 2 sprays is enough and it lasts all day.

You can wear this in the daytime or as an evening scent.  Suit or silk, either is perfect with this scent..

Foundations!

img_7405

Hi Everybody,

Foundations is the most difficult make up to choose for yourself. The recommendation of a foundation to one person may suit their skin but may not suit another! There is so many different types of foundation on the market, there’s light coverage, full coverage, matte, glowing, tinted, powder. The list is endless and of course all skin types are different and we all have our personal preferences to the types of foundation we like!

My  skin is combination with can be oily and blemish prone or dehydrated and dry!  My personal preference is a glowing foundation and that gives radiance and a glow to the skin. I’m not a big fan of matte foundation but I will give some a go and try some!

Here are some foundations I have tried so far and there’s a lot to try!

No7 Instant Radiance Foundation in ‘Calico’. The packaging is perfect, travel friendly and when I travel I take this one! The automatic pump action sucks up everything so no waste! I used No7’s foundation match up service when first launched and this was the match it recommended. The  foundation itself is a perfect match to me. It is a light to medium coverage with cream consistency and evens out my skin tone. It is also SPF 15 and gives a lovely radiance to my skin.  It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and so easy to apply on the skin. It works into the skin nicely. By the end of the day, it does slightly slide near my nose as I do wear glasses but it doesn’t really bother me. An excellent everyday foundation. I have re-purchased this so often!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in’Light Vanilla’. The packaging is glass with a pump action but you don’t collect all the foundation, unlike the No7. The range isn’t as large as the No7 so difficult to choose a perfect shade. This is also a light to medium coverage which you can build up. It is also similar in consistency to the No7 and easy to work with to blend in and works into the skin easily. It is also a bit more yellow in under tone than No7 ( which is a bit more pink) Good coverage but I do tend to use a bit more concealer to cover any blemishes I may have. No feeling of heaviness either on the skin but no SPF in it.  It does give a healthy glow but it does disappear at the end of the day. It’s a good everyday foundation that I have repurchased again.

L’Oreal True Match Foundation in ‘1N Ivory’. They have changed the formula so often, I’ve never had the opportunity to try previous foundations. The packaging is glass and has a pump action. This has a more liquid but dry consistency than the others. It does have quite light coverage. The colour match is perfect but it doesn’t blend as easy as the No7 or Boujois. It is quite drying and emphasizes  every single imperfection on my skin! It sits on the skin and I don’t like that. It also gives a matte finish on me and it slides off on my skin and it looks awful on me! I really wanted to like this as I have seen so many positive reviews on it but it just doesn’t work on me.

Rimmel Match Perfection Light Perfecting Radiance Foundation in ‘ 100 Ivory’. The packaging is glass and with a pump action. They have changed the formula on this foundation. I always liked this foundation and re-purchased often. Now it’s called Match Perfection Invisible Coverage Visibly Perfected Skin. My advice to Rimmel is go back to the original formula! The original foundation is a great blend of coverage and radiance and so easy to work with. This new foundation with ‘the pore blurring effect’ is rubbish compared to the original.  The imperfections can be seen and it slides off so easily. The original never did that. What a disappointment and I want the original foundation back!

I hope this helps people, who have a similar skin type to me, to find the right foundation. Now to try different foundations!

Body Lotions!

img_7634

Hi Everybody,

All year around our skin can be dehydrated or dry, not just on the face but on the body too. I do use body lotion or cream all year round. It doesn’t just hydrates and moisturizes the skin but it lifts up your mood too. After all, who wants skin that feels like sandpaper!

Here are some of my favourites:

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Body Lotion is a light formula lotion. It has a beautiful, light and delicate rose scent. It doesn’t smell old-fashioned in any way. It absorbs easily into the skin, doesn’t feel greasy or sticky and leaves the skin feeling hydrated and silky.

L’Occitane Almond Milk Concentrate is another light formula cream but in a pot rather than a tube. It hydrates nicely, the skin feels so smooth and nourishes the skin as well. No greasiness and stickiness either. It has a nutty scent as well which is subtle and not to overbearing.

Clarins Eau Des Jardins Smoothing Body Cream has one thing I like. A beautiful citrus scent which uplifts you and your mind. The light weight formula absorbs easily into the skin and hydrates perfectly. Non sticky and non greasy as well. The skin feels so smooth and the scent is much stronger than the previous two but not to sickly either.

Neal’s Yard Geranium & Orange Body Lotion is another light weight formula and full of essential oils as you would expect from Neals Yard. It absorbs easily but there is a stickiness on the skin so you do need to rub it in a bit longer than the others.  It feels so smooth though and the skin feels moisturized and the scent is floral and herbal so may not be for everyone. If you love natural body care, you will love it anyway.

Patisserie De Bain Cranberries & Cream is the most reasonable priced body lotion here but don’t let that fool you into thinking that it can’t be good! The smell is like a candy shop, in a good way of course! The formula is light weight, you do need to work it in longer than others. There is a slight stickiness but the skin feels hydrated and smooth. If you don’t mind a stronger scent, you will like this.

Korres Almond Cherry Body Milk was bought on the recommendation from Sali Hughes in her column in a magazine. I was impressed by one of Korre’s other body milks so I had to choose this one. This is 92.3% natural.  This is another light weight formula and hydrates effortlessly on the skin. The smell is gorgeous, full of vibrant cherries. I can happily bath in this cream!

I couldn’t choose just one as a favourite, they are all special and different in their ways. I love each  and every one of them!

Latest Beauty Buys!

img_8386

Hi Everybody,

When I go to Boots and other stores, I’m always amazed by the number of new products that come onto the market. Every day a new product is released and it’s so hard to keep up with everything! Here a few items, old and new in the market that I have purchased lately.

I do like TK Maxx for candles. I have picked Ralph Lauren and Miller Harris candles before. This time I found Payot candles at a reasonable price. I picked up a full-size Payot Bougie Relaxante candle and the smell is a fresh, clean scent.

Infinity Foods is a wonderful organic shop in the North Laines of Brighton.  They stock a wonderful selection of products and I did pick up  Weleda’s Almond Sensitive Skin Body Wash for a fiver! It is a lovely, cream shower gel and I never go wrong with Weleda products.

Brighton’s Mark & Spencer has a larger selection of beauty products than the one on Eastbourne and is well worth a look. I found REN’s Rosa Centifolia Cleansing Gel in a smart travel size and is a perfect tester. They have also collaborated with the celebrated podiatrist Margaret Dabbs for a new range of feet products called Bare Feet. I picked the set that includes a foot soak, foot scrub and foot cream. I do like foot products so I am looking forward to trying this set.

Body Shop had a sale and I couldn’t resist 2 nail varnishes for £2.00 each. I choose ‘Cupid Pink’, which is a bright pink and ‘Hemp Over Heals’, an olive green colour. Perfect for Autumn!

Superdrug stock Tanya Burr products and I picked one of the It’s Kissmas lip gloss sets for Christmas. There is 2 colours. A bright pink and a suitably festive red. I have tried and quite good quality and very reasonably priced.

Holland & Barrett stock essential oils  so I purchased Pine and Rose essential oils as I am thinking of doing some beauty experiments in the kitchen! I will keep you informed..

Now onto Boots, my favourite shop. I keep meaning to buy a Real Techniques complexion sponge. I have never used a sponge and I have just started to use it so I will post my thoughts later. I picked up Maybelline’s new mascara, Falsies Push Up Drama.

My husband has been reading with me Salli Hughes Fabulous new book, Pretty Iconic. He surprised me one day and did a beauty mini haul shop for me! I purchased Palmer’s Original Cocoa Butter.  It smells of chocolate, looking forward to trying this! He also purchased Ponds Cold Cream, beloved by so many people and I am looking forward to trying this as well to see what it can do for me!

October Favourites!

Hi Everybody,

A month closer to Christmas and all the beautiful things are coming into the beauty halls and shops! Snow is now falling in Latvia and I do miss the snow!

SKINCARE

I did have a mini sample of Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel but I wanted to try a full size bottle. It does a really good job in cleansing the face every day and it did help slightly with my blemish prone skin. If you have combination skin and want a really good cleanser this product is for you.

Dermalogical Ultracalming Cleanser has been a new product for me. I have had redness on my skin lately and I used this cleanser to help with it. It is a very gentle gel cream cleanser with no smell. I like this and I can recommend it to people who have sensitive/irritated skin and this will be excellent for that. No artifical fragrances and is pH balanced as well.

Manuka Doctor Apiclear Blemish Cream is a cream which you smear directly onto the blemish. I have noticed a difference to my skin. I used this on an angry blemish before I went to bed and the following morning the angry blemish had visibly shrunk! I did notice that my skin tightened where I had applied the cream onto the blemish. I think instant action was working to get that angry blemish down!

I did mention in beauty bedroom routine post the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream and I had to mention as a favourite. A wonderful product and a winner for me!

MAKE-UP

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks ‘Powder Pink’ is a fantastic nude pink colour and looks so beautiful on the face. It is so easy to apply and blends so effortlessly on the skin. The great thing is that you can apply this on the lips too! This great multi-tasking product. I now have to try other shades in the range!

Clinque All about Shadow Duos in ‘Nightcap’ is classic Clinque qualityThe two shades are a beautiful sliver eyeshadow with a hint of green. The second shade is a charcoal shade with a hint of green too. It is a perfect combo to create a smoky eye on the go. Easy to blend and work with and the shades have great pigmentation. This is my second Clinque pallet and I do love the quality of their eyeshadows.

I love the colour and smell of Body Shop’s Matt Lip Liquid ‘Sydney Amaryllis’, it’s so easy to apply with the applicator. It does dry to a matte finish.  It doesn’t stay all day on the lips and it does dry the lips so it feels you need to apply a lip balm. You know you have to re-apply it but that’s the fun of lip sticks!
