Latest in Beauty ‘The Red Skincare Edit Beauty Box’.

Hi Everybody,

I recently bought a very interesting beauty box from Latest in Beauty. It was a collaboration between Red magazine and Latest in Beauty. Red ‘s beauty director Annabel Meggeson compiled some of her favourite skincare products and produced this box. I was intrigued by the contents and had to buy it!

There are 11 products in the box and only one I have tried before. The Weleda Skin Food is beloved by me and my husband so we now one one in the travel size! Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm is famous for its naughty name but also it is known to be good for your lips.  I do love to try facial oils so I’m looking forward to trying Aromatherapy Associates Facial Oil. Institut Esthederm Eau Cellulaire Cellular Spray is a multi-purpose spray that you can use to tone the skin before applying skincare or to refresh your complexion through the day. Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre is used by many make up artists in the industry, either to remove make up or as a moisturisier. Its best use is as a primer so I am looking forward to trying it.  I am already using the Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging Power Serum and I am liking it so far. It is light weight serum that absorbs easily into the skin. Elemis Pr0-Collagen Cleansing Balm is the first step to cleanse the skin from make-up and is one of the best. Madara Time Miracle Total Renewal Night Cream is a Latvian product and I am proud that Madara are being recognized. I will review this as it is an interesting product. OM Skincare Cleanse & Glow Konjac Sponge was mentioned By Liz Eldridge in one of her blogs and I keep meaning to try one so this is an ideal opportunity! Sudocream Skin Care Cream is great for spots and breakouts and as I suffer from these, I’m looking forward to trying it to see if it works.  Sali Hughes mentioned the Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum in her April Video and I was bought to buy some when I saw these were in the box so that was all I needed to buy the box. I’ve started these already and I will test them a little longer..

This is a really great box with plenty of different products in them, some may become firm and everyday favourites..

Pure Aesthetic Clinic ‘Diamond Peel Dermabrasion’ Treatment.

Hi Everybody,

I was recently invited to try a skincare treatment by Pure Aesthetic Clinic of Eastbourne. The clinic provides skin, laser and cosmetic treatments in East Sussex. I was lucky enough to meet Dr J H Poul, who is the skincare expert at the clinic and has experience in  Derma fillers, Botox and other specialist treatments the clinic provides.

My treatment was provided by Beatrice Andem, who is an aesthetic practitioner at the clinic and also a great friend! I have never had any treatment like this before so this was unknown territory for me and a little bit nerve-wrecking! There is so many new treatments to the skincare that it is a minefield of what treatments are suitable for you.

Reception /waiting room.

We decided go for the Diamond Peel Dermabrasion which is a non-surgical procedure that removes dead skin cells on the upper part surface of the skin. This is done by using a stainless steel head which contains miniature diamond grains which creates a light abrasion onto the skin. The head moves across the skin and a mild vacuum disposes of the old skin cells. This helps to stimulate skin renewal and collagen.

My no makeup skin before treatment. My skin looks awful!

I was advised not to wear make up and I was given a consulation before treatment to explain everything that would happen. One advantage of going to a clinic like this is that everything is explained in detail so you know exactly what you need to know about the treatment you will be receiving.

Beatrice cleansed my skin and used a peel before using the dermabrasion. Beatrice used Juliette Armand Effectox  skincare range on me before the dermabrasion procedure.

Beatrice using diamond peel dermabrasion on me!

The treatment lasted under an hour but it can be adapted to a person’s individual needs. The dermabrasion included forehead, cheek areas, nose, eye area, jawline, neck and decolletage. I thought it would hurt and I would feel some sensation. But it felt like somebody was hoovering my skin with a light vacuum cleaner! The only thing I did feel was a tingling sensation when the peel was put onto my face but that is completely normal.

After finishing the dermabrasion, a calming mask was applied as redness appeared on my skin. But after a procedure like this that is perfectly normal.

After dermabrasion, as you can see there is slight redness on the upper part of my face. Of course all skin can react differently to the treatment. So nothing to be scared about!

Calming mask applied to face after treatment.

After this treatment you do need to hydrate and protect the skin. Beatrice used a caviar cream and a hyaluronic serum to the face and SPF50. This is important to do to protect the skin as not to waste the treatment and its benefits!

My skin after treatment completed. As you can see my skin is less red, glows and radiates!

I did ask a few questions after treatment.

Q- How often do you recommend this treatment?

A – Every 2/3 weeks and 6-10 courses can be taken.

Q- What aftercare advice do you recommend after treatment?

A- SPF30 or 50. Good quality serum and to moisturise.

Q- What age group can have this treatment?

A- Over 18 but it depends on the skin of the person or the needs of that person

This was an amazing experience and I did feel the benefits of the treatment. My skin did feel dry for a few days but moisturizing is a must.  This kind of treatment is a perfect introduction to non-surgical skin care and the benefits are considerable as you can add this kind of treatment to your improve your skin appearance and condition.

The price is £60.00 for this treatment.

Escada ‘Fiesta Carioca’ EDT!

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a while since I posted as I have been busy but now I’m back to writing about beauty and perfumes!

Escada Fiesta Carioca is the summer fragrance for 2017 and celebrates 25 years of summer editions from them. This new fragrance is designed as a’cocktail of passion’inspired by exotic fruit and flowers. The packaging is typical Escada for the summer editions: fun, colourful and joyful. You want to have a fiesta and a bit of boogie dance!

The scent is a sweet, fruity cocktail of raspberries and passion fruit. The floral heart is jasmine, violets and orange blossom and I can also feel the vanilla, cedar wood and a hint of musk which gives warmth to the fragrance. People do say it is doesn’t last but I think for summer you don’t want anything too heavy and I can still feel this on my clothes or scarf the next day.

I love the summer editions from Escada. They are fun, flirty and girly fragrances. It gives you the feeling of happiness when you go on holiday..

Looking forward to another 25 years of summer editions..

April Favourites!

Hi Everybody,

Time flies so quickly by doesn’t it? Here are my April favourites.

The Elemis Skin Nourishing Shower Cream is a beautifully scented, milky cream. It is a gentle cleansing cream with camellia, macadamia and jojoba oils combined with extracts of oat kernels and wheatgerm. It is so nourishing and soft on the skin. I wish I had bought it before!

The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-up Remover is a perfect product to try if you have sensitive skin as it doesn’t irritate or sting the eye area. It  doesn’t have much of a scent and it is a gentle make up remover and I do like to remove my make up separately from cleansing the face.

L’Oreal Pure Clay Glow Scrub is made up of three types of clay: Kaolin, Montmorillonite and Ghassoul. The red algae is for brightening the skin. It is a very unusually scrub as your face turns a brick red colour when massaged into the skin. It is not a strong abrasive texture, more creamier but you do feel some grittiness. After rinsing you do feel and see the difference straight away. The skin looks brighter. I do like this.

Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm is a multi purpose cream so you can use this as a daily moisturizer or as a make up primer. I have used this as a primer and I did notice the difference when I didn’t apply it. My skin looked matte when I didn’t use it but when I applied it the skin glowed and looked juicy! The texture is unusual as it feels like a thick sticky texture but once rubbed into the skin it melts in to it. A lovely product to use.

Max Factor Velvet Matte Lipstick in the colour ‘Nude 05’ is a nude light brown colour. I’m not a great fan of matte lipsticks that much as I do prefer glossy, juicy lipsticks. Occasionally it is nice to have a matte texture lipstick and this one is a good one. It applies easily and it didn’t dry my lips. Stayed on my lips for a good time.

Max Factor False Lash Epic Mascara has one problem. The stupid round ball at the end is too big and ruins the application of the mascara ny smudging the mascara onto the eyelids. Saying that when applied to the lashes it does elongate and separate them nicely. A good budget mascara.

I have used 3  new make up brushes.  The Barry M eyeshadow brush is a rounded ended brush which applies very nicely the eye shadows over the lids and socket. It is a soft easy to use brush for the eyes. I can’t find anymore of the brushes from Barry M, where have they gone? When I visited the Professional Beauty show, I bought 2 brushes from Crown to try. The C138 Round Crease Brush which fits perfectly into the crease of the eye socket and is a perfect brush for shadowing.  The C511 Blending Brush is a perfect copy of the MAC 217 brush. The difference is that the Mac has slightly softer bristles. Both do a great job for blending eyeshadows. The Crown is a much more reasonable price compared to the MAC and who will notice the difference when the make up is applied!
