On My Nails- Colourful Leopard Nail Art!

Hi Everybody,

I did some experimenting again with my nail art. Its still summer and you still want to keep with those bright colours!

Leopard print is still popular and never seems to go out of fashion, be it clothes or interior design. I decided to brighten it up with a design I saw in a book and I was inspired to try it.

I used Mavala base coat first and then applied two coats of OPI ‘Alpine Snow’ white nail vanish. I let them dry and then I created a bright pattern using four colours: CND Vinylux ‘Lush Tropics, Soigne ‘Peche’, Soigne ‘Fraise’ and Soigne ‘Kiwi’.  Wiping the excess from the brush, I dabbed the colours using the tip of the corner brush onto the nails creating a random pattern.  Using WAH London nail art pen, I draw a random sequence of three lines around the colours. I also dabbed black dots onto the white space between the colours. I then used Mavala Gel Finish top coat.  Voila!. A colourful, nail art design that I think looks great. I think you can wear this design in the winter to brighten up those wintry days. What do you think?

Mini Beauty Haul!

Hi Everybody,

I have a bag of beauty products that I picked up recently.

When I was in Latvia, I did purchase some products from Latvia’s best-known skincare company, Madara. Madara is an organic skincare company with a fantastic reputation for their high-quality products. I purchased their Multi Action Micellar Water with Hyaluronic Acid. This is great for all skin types, it dissolves make up and also cleanses and tones the skin. I also picked up their Exfoliating Oil-to-Milk Scrub. This is an exfolitator which I had to try to see how it compares to other exfolitators on the market. The ability to turn from an oil to a milk is interesting! I love toners so I had to pick up their Clarifying Toner as well.  I could have bought more as their range is fantastic.

Natura Siberica is a Russian skincare and bodycare company. Their range is organic and made in the EU. I bought their Aralia Mandshurica Day Cream, which is a SPF20 cream for nutrition and hydration. Looks good and looking forward to trying it. I also picked up their Sea Buckthorn and Honey body scrub. This has an unusual and lovely scent and the colour is amazing! A bright orange  scrub. I also like the packaging.

I have purchased some Beauty Pie products and I have been impressed by the quality. I did repurchase my Superbrow Precision Pencil in ‘perfect brown’. I really do like it and at the same time, I picked a new mascara called Uber Curl Drama Mascara. I did buy one of their new products, the Pro-Glow Sculpting Face Palette. They have also brought out a skincare range and I also needed a serum and eye cream. I bought the Jeju Daily Antioxidant Superinfusion and the Plantastic Youth Guard Eye Cream, so I will see what the skincare range can do, I’m hoping it will be as good as their make up.

When in London, I managed to visit Covent Garden Ordinary pop-up store and wanted to try a few things. Unfortunately a few things I wanted to try were out of stock but I did buy the Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5 serum.

I do love Neals Yard and I have a big list of products I want to try! I needed a toner and the Purifying Palmarosa Toner and this was one from my list. I finished my Body Shop so I bought this one to try and make the list shorter!

Boots is always good for daily stuff and I bought my Sanex deodorant as always. I re-purchased my Klorane Dry Shampoo with Nettle. As it was on offer, I purchased Klorane’s Mango Shampoo and conditioner as they are quite expensive.

L’Oreal Fine Flowers Cleansing Cream is a cleanser which is so affordable and so good!  The scent is lovely and I am using it already!

I have started using some products already so over time I will review them with my thoughts.

Homemade body scrub from Neals Yard!

Hi Everybody,

I was reading the Neal’s Yard Beauty Book one day and throughly enjoyed reading this book. It has different chapters explaining the benefits of natural ingredients and essential oils, the effects of  oils on different skin types and how they can improve the mind and body.

It has beauty recipes using natural ingredients and shows how simple it can be to make these recipes yourself. So i decided to give it a go. I decided to do a recipe from the body chapter and choose the peppermint and sea salt invigorating body scrub.

This is a simple and quick scrub for all skin types. It helps to remove dead skin cells, revives the circulation and leaves the skin silky smooth.  The ingredients required were 4 tbsp sea salt, (but I used ‘Le Paludier Guerande Sel de Gruerande instead, it less abrasive than sea salt) 1 tsp peppermint, ( I used dry peppermint instead) 4 tbsp Almond Oil, 5 drops of peppermint essential oil and 2 drops of grapefruit essential oil.  Sea salt has cleansing properties. Peppermint essential oil stimulates circulation. Grapefruit oil has detoxifying properties. Almond oil adds nourishment to the scrub and mint gently exfolitates and has a lovely scent. I used a small Kilner jar and mixed all the ingredients together in the jar.  You can keep the scrub for up to 6 months in a container.

I used it in the shower and I have to sat I mighty impressed by own body scrub! The skin felt so smooth and exfolitated afterwards. The oils hydrated the skin wonderfully and the scent is beautiful. Of course I moisturized afterwards because of the salt.

I will be experimenting with more recipes from this really interesting book. There is so many  recipes to try, its so simple and fun to do as well.

My Summer Bag!

Hi Everybody,

Like most women I do love a handbag! I spotted this 100% linen handmade crossbody bag on Etsy. There is always something special about people who can create one-off  handmade bags which are full of individuality and made with love. It’s great that you can buy something different from the mass-produced bags you buy from the high street or the internet.

This one is embroidered with silk flowers with a lovely combination of colours. The inside is spacious, you can’t fit in everything but you can fit in quite a bit. This is a bag for someone who, like me, loves flowers. You can almost feel you are wearing a bouquet! It went with everything, jeans, dresses and I always had people asking me about it and complementing me about the bag.

Please visit for the site to have a look at the different bag on offer.

On My Nails – Soigne ‘Peche’.

Hello Everybody,

Summer is still here so we must advantage of it before it leaves us! So you still need bright vibrant colours.

I looked through my collection for a bright, vibrant colour and I choose Soigne ‘Peche’. Soigné are a french company and the word Soigne translates ‘to take care of’ in English. This is a beautiful, vibrant pastel orange colour.  I have been impressed by the Soigne collection. The formulas are excellent and the brushes are good. The packaging is classy  and elegant too, typical French!

I used Sally Hansen Double Duty base and top coat before I applied 2 coats of this peach nail vanish. It did last 5 days without chipping and only on the seventh day I did need to re-fresh the nails by repainting them. Soigne nails colours are vegan friendly, free of animal testing, no harmful carcinogens and up to 85% of plant-sourced, natural ingredients.

Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion Exhibition at the V&A.

Hi everybody,

The V&A in London has had several exhibitions on fashion and fashion designers recently and I was able to go to their latest show. This retrospective covers the career and work of the great Cristobal Balenciaga. The exhibition covers the spectrum of his design and how his work has influenced other designers. The show on the ground floor looks at his work and the upstairs part showcases the work of the other designers who have been inspired by him. It is important to note that Balenciaga is notable as one of the few couturiers in fashion who could use their own hands to design, cut, and sew! He was a truly talented man and this excellent show really shows off his unique ability.

Born in 1895, he trained as tailor  and he set up his own fashion house in 1919 aged just 26.  Although he was very successful, the Spanish Civil War led him to leave and set up his couture house in Paris in 1937. It was here that his true vision and inventiveness in the post-second war 1950s become evident. He transformed the silhouette, broadening the shoulders and removing the waist. His period of the 1950s and 1960 are masterpieces of fashion, truly inventive for their time and modern even today.

This is a wonderful exhibition that brings the importance of his work and influences to a wider audience.  Christian Dior called him “the master of us all”. Coco Chanel said of him that he was”the only couturier in the truest sense of the word” and “The others are simply fashion designers”.  Nothing more can be added from me!

The show is on to the 18th February 2018 at the V&A.

July Favourites!

Hi Everybody,

A wet day here in on the south coast of England, I want summer back!

Here my July favourites, not very much as I am using the same products.

Pixi+ Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse has been used, enjoyed and my skin has been cleansed very well by it. It removed my makeup very well and I had no breakouts from it. My skin didn’t dry out and my only gripe is that I wish it was in a bigger container, 50ml per product is simply not enough!

Time Bomb ‘Take-off Time Cleansing Cream’ has been my second cleanse choice. It has very fine grittiness to it so it is an excellent exfolitator and to slough off the dead cells without damaging the skin.  A really good product and great value when you can buy 125ml for £16.00. Recommended.

Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Eye Balm has been my daytime eye cream recently. It hydrates and moisturizers the eye area without irritating them. It reduces the appearance of the signs of aging ( I hope in time it works for me!). I had a small pot of it and it has lasted a long time as you only need the tiniest of amounts. Lovely stuff!

Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Cream has been a wonderful day cream to use ( for normal/combination skin)It’s been perfect for me. No breakouts and it has really hydrated my skin. I applied make up on top and it didn’t slip. It has SPF and is also non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog your pores. It feels great on the skin.

I had to try Sanctuary Wet Skin Moisture Miracle when I saw it in Boots. You apply it onto wet skin after showering and rub in the lightweight creamy texture on to the body and then dry as normal. The skin feels so smooth, soft and hydrated and the scent is beautiful as well. No stickiness either which is even better. I am very impressed and great for people who are busy and don’t have time to have a beauty routine.

Being by Sanctuary Spa Chilli Mango  & Tonka Bean Body Scrub feels edible as the smell is so amazing! You must seek it out and just smell it. It is a sugar scrub so great for exfolitating the body and it gives a nice kick of warm spicy feel to the skin when you rub it in. The skin feels so soft and there is a subtle fragrance to it. I really like it!

I do love a tote bag and I have been using my & Other Stories ‘Lip’ Bag a lot. It is a colourful summer bag for fans for lipsticks! You have two options, either the handles or the shoulder strap which I like.

Anya Hindmarch Leather/Nylon Jewellery Travel Case has been a useful companion when travelling.  It has two compartments and  three separate zip-fastening pockets for necklaces, bracelets and rings and a small panel for earrings. I also use it as my daily storage for my jewellery. A really nice, compact well-made accessory.
