Escada ‘Sorbetto Rosso’ EDT!

Hi everybody,

Its the summer so there must be a new Escada limited edition EDT for me to buy!

This new EDT has the Italian coast as its inspiration to Escada. Of course it has the classic Escada packaging that to me sums up the summer. The bottle is  long and shapely and the packaging has the fun, bright summer feel to it as always. I love it.

The first spray is sweet, fruity composition. The middle notes are fresh, juicy with watermelon at the fore. Strawberries is also there to give sweetness to the fragrance. The dry down is musky with a nutty feel to it.

This is a girly, flirty fragrance for the summer. When I wear this, I think of the sizzling sun, the sand between the toes and the shimmering turquoise water walking along a beach wearing a floating dress!

On My Nails – No7 Gel Finish ‘Grapefruit’.

Hi Everybody,

Now is the season for beautiful, bright colour for your nails. I go through my collection of nail polishes and look for the summer vibe colours. The yellows, pinks, turquoise, greens, corals and of course, reds.

When in Boots I bought my foundation and other bits from No7 and part of a deal was the No7 summer treat box. Inside you had four products including the full-size bottle of gel finish nail polish in the colour Grapefruit. I’ve never tried the gel finish range before so I had to give it a go!

The colour is a pale coral shade, its not too orangey or too pinky. It sits in between shades and gives a nice slight pastel colour. The brush is also worth a mention, too easy to work and apply with. No streaks with this brush. As always I gave it 2 coats as I like the full effect. The drying time was good and no smudges or fingerprints from touching your clothes!

Its been on my nails for 3 days and so far no chipping considering I have done some cleaning and washing so quite happy about that.

Its a pretty summer shade when you want some brightness for your nails.

Burt’s Bees Lipsticks!

From top: Fuchsia Flood, Blush Basin, Blush Ripple.

From Top: Blush Ripple, Blush Basin, Fuchsia Flood.

Hi Everybody,

I do love my lipsticks. The pop of colour makes a world of difference to the face.

Burts Bees is best known for its skincare & body care but they have in recent times branched out to create lipstick collections. Burts Bees say they 100% natural and are formulated with moringa and raspberry seed oils. I bought three lipsticks, 2 from the satin range and 1 from the glossy range.

The packaging is a simple beehive design and the pattern allows you to see the colour. I bought a shade called ‘Blush Basin’. This is a nude shade which gives you a natural look. The second shade is ‘Fuchsia Flood’ which is a pink fuchsia. I have found the satin range to be quite moisturizing, non-drying and good colour staying power. They are also nicely pigmented and I didn’t experience any bleed through from the edges.

The glossy lipstick is in the shade ‘Blush Ripple’ which is a subtle red tone with slight golden shimmer. Its a lipstick but it looks like you have applied gloss.  It gives a shiny, glossy look to the lips. Like the satin range, it moisturizes the lips very well but I did need to re-apply as it didn’t stay all day.

The range of shades is excellent so all tastes will be covered but I do think they are a bit pricey compared to L’Oreal or Max Factor lipsticks but they are often on offer in the shops.

March & April Favourites!

Hi Everybody,

I decided to combine March and April favourites so here we go!

SKINCARE

L’Oreal Smooth Sugars Nourish Scrub  is a new range of skincare from L’Oreal. I decided to try this but they have 2 more different scrubs in the range. It is a fine brown sugar scrub made from cocoa butter, coconut oil and cocoa grains. It felt gentle on the skin and exfolitated well and didn’t irritate or leave me with any breakouts. The skin felt very soft, smooth and velvety. You can also use this on your lips and the smell is delicious.

Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris is a alcohol free toner. It is for combination/oily skin and I love to use it in the evenings as an extra cleanse on my skin. It doesn’t dry or irritate my skin. I do love toners and I will always use them.

Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz is a 100% organic product and is reasonably priced! I use this in the mornings to refresh and hydrate the skin. It just the start my skin needs before I do my make up or if I want to be make-up free. The smell is pleasant with the damask rose scent and my skin loves it.

I have been using Clinque’s All About Eyes for a couple of months in the mornings. It is a gel cream constituency and you only need to use a tiny amount underneath the eyes. The makeup didn’t crease underneath and it really helped to hydrate the eyes and didn’t irritate me. It really helped to keep fine lines at bay!

I have been using Juliette Armand Elements 05 DNA Repair Serum for 4 months now and I have seen an improvement to my skin. The spots scars have diminished and the skin looks more even and less redness. It contains BIFIDUS bacterium and milk proteins and this stimulates the enzymatic system of the skin to identify and repair damages to the DNA of the skin cells. The skin feels less dehydrated and no irritation either. It absorbs easily into the skin and unlike other serums, my make up and foundation never slipped from my face. I still have another month left of product so I may have to buy another bottle!

MAKEUP

I found the Clarins Summer Eye Palette on sale in Debenhams. It is a beautiful designed 4 colour palette with a nice size mirror included. The colours are a nude-golden, brown-orange combination. You can do a natural look or even a smoky look for the evenings. Nicely pigmented and easy to blend shades. Perfect for the summer glow for the eyes!

I have never tried any products from this brand but the CYO Kohl Gel Eyeliner ‘Highflier’ has been excellent. The dark turquoise eyeliner was what I was looking for the summer. It was easy to draw the flick on the eyes and it didn’t smudge, crumble or fade and stayed on for a number of hours. The other great thing is that you don’t need to sharpen it as it is an retractable eyeliner!

YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils is a little sample I have been trying. The bristle brush is small but easy to apply with. It gave the lashes lift and volume. No smudge or crumbs under the eyes either, so a really great everyday mascara. I now have to buy the full size version!

Lancome Shine Lover ‘O My Rouge 120’ is a vibrant shiny lipstick. The colour is a raspberry red with hydrating glossy qualities. The staying power of the lipstick is excellent. It gives the lips a juicy fruity effect. It feels like a balm but with the staying powering look of a lipstick.

Barry M Holographic Lip Topper ‘Mermaid’ is right up my street. It smells fruity but not sickly. On the lips the colour is stunning. You can use it on its own or on top of lipstick, either look is amazing.g  The staying power on the lips is excellent and I wear it in the daytime too! A bit of bling-bling for the lips and the price is excellent too!

New Foundations!

Hi Everybody,

Foundations are quite personal to each person. I do love glowing foundations but they are quite difficult to find in the market. Because of this I stick to foundations that I know suit me. Boots No7 and Bourjois seem to look great on my skin so I buy them often.  I do like to try different foundations but I often find the shades difficult that match to my skin tone.

I have been trying to 2 recent foundations onto the market. Rosie for Autograph Amazing Skin Secret Foundation in the shade ‘Nude’ and No7 Aqua Perfect Cushion Foundation in ‘Calico’.

The Rosie for Autograph Amazing Skin Secret Foundation in ‘Nude’ is a liquid creamy formula with SPF30 in a frosted glass with a pump action. I like to apply foundation with a brush. It is a lightweight formula with medium coverage and it covers and evens out the skin tone. It leaves a silky, matte finish but it was a little cakey on my skin but it did hold through the day well. They say it leaves a luminous finish but I don’t see that on my skin! It was a good colour match and I liked the fact that it evened out the skin well (still needed to use concealer in small areas) A good affordable foundation but the shade range is quite limited for skin tones.

Boots No7  Aqua Perfect Cushion Foundation in ‘Calico’ is my first cushion foundation and I was quite excited to try it ( I must try the Lancome version!)  It looks like a compact which I really like. It is a liquid foundation with SPF15 with light to medium coverage which you can build up. I tried it with brush and sponge and it works well with both. No7 say that it is infused with purified water that leaves a cooling effect leaving the skin fresh and hydrated which it does! it applies so easily into the skin and evens out skin immediately and leaves the skin radiant. You can’t feel the foundation on the skin that it is so lightweight and I like that. It held all day on my skin without sliding and no cakiness. The formula is wonderful for me, it left a natural look which I like very much. This may be my go to foundation for some time..

Spot Zappers Update!

Hi Everybody,

Its been three years since my blog post on treatment for spots so it’s overdue for an update an other products I have been using. My skin is clearer and better now but in emergencies I have these two products sitting on my shelf to use.

Burt’s Bees Anti-Blemish Solutions Targeted Skin Spot Treatment with Willow Bark is a liquid formula which you dab on to a cotton bud and apply directly on the spot. I have found it is a strong solution which targets the spot quickly and you will be to see the difference the next day. It didn’t dry the skin around the spot area or irritated the skin but it calms the spot and heals the area quickly. I used only in the evenings for a couple of days and when my skin was clean and make up free. It is pricey but you only need to use a tiny amount so the 7.5ml will last for quite a while!

Dr Organic Skin Clear Tea Tree Treatment Gel 5 in 1 is a gel formula in a squeezable 10ml tube which you apply a small amount on your finger and onto the spot. It has little smell, unlike other tea tree products which can be strong. With this you feel no scent. You have to leave it to absorb it into the spot so it takes a little longer to target the spot compared to the Burt’s Bees liquid. It didn’t irritate or dry the skin so its quite mild but still works very well to eradicate the spots.

I like them both but for quick targeting of the spots I would choose the Burt’s Bees again. Nothing wrong with Dr Organic and it is very good value for money and a very good product.

Jimmy Choo ‘Blossom’ EDP!

Hi Everybody,

Spring has taken its time after the cold period we have had. The buds and blossom from Magnolia trees are almost out and the spring flowers;tulips, hyacinth and narcissus are in bloom and I love it.

Jimmy Choo ‘Blossom’ is the appropriate spring scent I have been wearing lately. I have to mention the bottle design first. The multi faceted bottle and the diamond cap, together with ombre pink effect has a nice tactile feel and it likes great.

The scent is fruity, sweet and floral.  When you first spray, citrus hits you followed by the raspberries and berries.  The floral comes in later with rose and sweet pie. The dry down you can feel the hint of white musk. It is a nice bouquet of different scents which works nicely without being overpowering.

Like the box it is a pink scent but not to sweet or sugary. Its a modern girly scent who is wearing a sparkly dress with a cocktail in her hand!

Happy Easter everyone!
