My Morning Beauty Routine!

Hi Everybody,

You can see outside Autumn is here. The leaves are falling, conkers from the horse-chestnut trees are around and the rain is falling! The countdown to Christmas has started with the shops beginning to fill up with delicious beauty gifts..

I thought I would share my current morning beauty routine and some thoughts on the products I have been using.

When I get up I first have a glass of water. I wash my face with cold water to wake myself up and the skin! The first product I use is a toner and it helps to cleanse the skin and prepare it for the rest of the products. I am currently using Neal’s Yard Purifying Palmarosa Toner. This has a nice citrus scent, it is not harsh for your skin and doesn’t dry my skin out. My skin feels nice and clean.

The next step is an eye cream. At the moment I am using Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Eye Balm. This eye cream hydrates and moisturizes the eye area. This eye cream has been excellent in slowing down the light wrinkles around my eye area and has prevented dryness and tightness around my eyes.

The third step is a serum. I have been using Beauty Pie Jeju Daily Antioxidant Superinfusion Serum. This is a lightweight serum, applies and absorbs very good. I have found my skin to be smoother, calmer and to be almost radiant! For the price, I have found this to be an excellent product.

The final step in my routine is a day cream. My choice recently has been Natura Siberica Aralia Mandshurica Day Cream. I bought this when I was in Latvia. Born in Siberia and made in Europe, this is made from Hyaluronic Acid, Vitagenyl, Vitamin E and extracts of wild harvested Siberian Geranium. This really hydrates the skin and no breakouts when using it. My skin feels and looks much better. I don’t feel any dryness when using it. I have found  that even when I have used different foundations, it has glided easily over the day cream and no patches or ‘cottage cheese’ effect on the skin. This product is also SPF20 and uses naturally harvested Siberian plants. It also has no parabans, polyethylene glycol, mineral oils and synthetic dyes.

For the moment I am really happy with my routine. Once I have finished them, I’m sure I will buy them again in the future but I will also try other products as well!

I hope you enjoyed my morning routine.I think it’s always interesting to hear what people are using in their morning routine.

July Favourites!

Hi Everybody,

A wet day here in on the south coast of England, I want summer back!

Here my July favourites, not very much as I am using the same products.

Pixi+ Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse has been used, enjoyed and my skin has been cleansed very well by it. It removed my makeup very well and I had no breakouts from it. My skin didn’t dry out and my only gripe is that I wish it was in a bigger container, 50ml per product is simply not enough!

Time Bomb ‘Take-off Time Cleansing Cream’ has been my second cleanse choice. It has very fine grittiness to it so it is an excellent exfolitator and to slough off the dead cells without damaging the skin.  A really good product and great value when you can buy 125ml for £16.00. Recommended.

Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Eye Balm has been my daytime eye cream recently. It hydrates and moisturizers the eye area without irritating them. It reduces the appearance of the signs of aging ( I hope in time it works for me!). I had a small pot of it and it has lasted a long time as you only need the tiniest of amounts. Lovely stuff!

Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Cream has been a wonderful day cream to use ( for normal/combination skin)It’s been perfect for me. No breakouts and it has really hydrated my skin. I applied make up on top and it didn’t slip. It has SPF and is also non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog your pores. It feels great on the skin.

I had to try Sanctuary Wet Skin Moisture Miracle when I saw it in Boots. You apply it onto wet skin after showering and rub in the lightweight creamy texture on to the body and then dry as normal. The skin feels so smooth, soft and hydrated and the scent is beautiful as well. No stickiness either which is even better. I am very impressed and great for people who are busy and don’t have time to have a beauty routine.

Being by Sanctuary Spa Chilli Mango  & Tonka Bean Body Scrub feels edible as the smell is so amazing! You must seek it out and just smell it. It is a sugar scrub so great for exfolitating the body and it gives a nice kick of warm spicy feel to the skin when you rub it in. The skin feels so soft and there is a subtle fragrance to it. I really like it!

I do love a tote bag and I have been using my & Other Stories ‘Lip’ Bag a lot. It is a colourful summer bag for fans for lipsticks! You have two options, either the handles or the shoulder strap which I like.

Anya Hindmarch Leather/Nylon Jewellery Travel Case has been a useful companion when travelling.  It has two compartments and  three separate zip-fastening pockets for necklaces, bracelets and rings and a small panel for earrings. I also use it as my daily storage for my jewellery. A really nice, compact well-made accessory.

May Favourites!

Hi Everybody,

I’m a bit late on May favourites as I visited my family in Latvia. So here it is and there will be more coming in the June one!

I finished my Urban Decay eye primer so I found the Bourjois Eye Primer 24 Hour in Boots and decided to try it.  Its good but it didn’t last 24 hours as claimed but lasted about 8 hours on me. Any eyeshadow product I used went well on top of it. It is a universal colour with a rather good wand applicator. It would be unfair to compare to the Urban Decay but as a budget option it’s rather good.

The Body Shop Blending Brush is a really good 100% cruelty free brush. it’so soft and easy to use. The slightly domed top is the perfect size that makes it easy to blend into the eye socket. The wooden handle gives it a more luxurious feel and I will buy more of these brushes from Body Shop.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine ‘Red-Y Set, Go!’ is a beautiful sheer red-orange shade. It’s so nice on the lips and it lasts a long time and it looks so juicy on the lips! I can’t stop wearing it.

Max Factor ‘Star Dust Pink’ 615 is the opposite to the Rimmel. It’s a pinky-nude shade. I have been wearing this shade when I have gone for a darker eyeshadow look. I think this type of shade is perfect with a more dramatic eye look and it always looks great. It lasts well as it is a creamy texture.

L’Oreal Micellar Water is good at removing eye makeup.  I don’t use micellar water as a face cleanser, I only use them for the eyes and most importantly it doesn’t sting them It does the job and it’s also reasonably priced.

Balance Me Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser is a  proper creamy cleanser rather than a watery cleanser. It removes makeup well and doesn’t dry the skin out.The skin feels refreshed and smooth afterwards. It didn’t cause any breakouts and therefore quite gentle to the skin. The scent is pleasant too and I really love this.

Super Facialist By Una Brennan Rose Hydrate Brighten & Refine Facial Scrub does not have a great scent! This is a thick creamy consistency  but with a gritty feel to it as well. I wonder if it will be too strong for those who have sensitive skin. Saying all that, it does leave the skin smooth and bright. It’s an excellent choice if you need something instantly to brighten or freshen the skin.

I bought the ESPA Balancing Face Treatment Oil with a discount code back in March and I have been using every evening before I go to bed. It’s a purifying oil that boosts hydration and to balance excess oils. This oil is good for oily/combination and congested skin types. It has a nice herby scent and I think my skin looks better for using it. It absorbs easily into the skin and hasn’t caused any breakouts. I do love using facial oils, it gives time to work into the skin and there is nothing wrong with using oils in the skin.

I love my hand creams and I have throughly enjoyed Caudalie The Des Vignes Hand Cream. The scent is beautiful and you instantly feel the difference as you rub it into the hands and nails. I love it this hand cream a lot and its my bedtime routine favourite at the moment.

I have tried so many of the OGX range and I have never been disappointed with any of them. OGX Bamboo Fiber-Full Shampoo, Conditioner & Root Booster is another great additions to the range. It gives a lovely squeaky clean feel to the hair but at the same time it boosts volume and bounce to the hair. I attend  to try all the OGX ranges they do..

Escada ‘Fiesta Carioca’ EDT!

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a while since I posted as I have been busy but now I’m back to writing about beauty and perfumes!

Escada Fiesta Carioca is the summer fragrance for 2017 and celebrates 25 years of summer editions from them. This new fragrance is designed as a’cocktail of passion’inspired by exotic fruit and flowers. The packaging is typical Escada for the summer editions: fun, colourful and joyful. You want to have a fiesta and a bit of boogie dance!

The scent is a sweet, fruity cocktail of raspberries and passion fruit. The floral heart is jasmine, violets and orange blossom and I can also feel the vanilla, cedar wood and a hint of musk which gives warmth to the fragrance. People do say it is doesn’t last but I think for summer you don’t want anything too heavy and I can still feel this on my clothes or scarf the next day.

I love the summer editions from Escada. They are fun, flirty and girly fragrances. It gives you the feeling of happiness when you go on holiday..

Looking forward to another 25 years of summer editions..

Mini Beauty Haul!

Hi Everybody,

I haven’t done a beauty mini haul for quite some time, to show what I have picked up lately. So here we go!

Ruth Crilly’s Colab collection has been updated and redesigned. The packaging is more fun but the formula remains the same. I picked up the Paradise Dry Shampoo and the ‘Luxe Shine Glossy Hair Fragrance’ as well. I have never tried the hair fragrance so I decided to try it.

I change my shampoos all the time. This time I decided to try OGX Bamboo Fibre-Full shampoo, conditioner and Root Booster. I don’t find it is easy to get the product out of the these bottles though. I have tried their Kukui oil and the Argan Oil of Morocco shampoos and I liked them so I’m looking forward to trying this one.

When I went to the Beauty Show I did go to the Elemis Bus and picked up a gift set to try. I bought the make up bag with the Skin Nourishing Shower Cream and Body Cream. It also had the Pro-Radiance Hand & Nail Cream in the gift bag. I’ve never been disappointed with any Elemis products so I hope they will follow the same pattern of being great for my skin!

Life Long Beauty Nutritive Body Butter by Judith Williams was in the Perfume Society’s ‘Heaven’ box. I have never used the body butter but I have tried the face oil and that was excellent for my skin. Looking forward to trying this product.

EOS Hand Lotion Cucumber has very cute packaging, it looks like a pebble so perfect for the handbag. I have tried lip balm in Melon so I am hoping this will be good. It does smell nice though and I do love my hand lotions/creams/

My Elemis gift box also had the famous Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, beloved by so many people, the Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm, Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm  and the White Flowers Eye & Lip Make-Up Remover. I have tried the make-up remover before and it has shakeable bi-phase formula which is excellent for removing mascara.

The Body Shop is one of my favourite shops. I bought the Camomile Gentle Eye-Make-up Remover, The Drops of Youth Youth Liquid Peel and the Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil.

From L’Oreal I picked up Pure Clay Glow Scrub which looks very orangey and muddy! I picked up 2 cleansers: The Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse and Balance Me Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser.

I am using some already so you will see them on the blog and I will review them in greater depth over the next few months!

My Best Beauty Discoveries of the Year!

Hi Everybody,

I hope you enjoyed the festive period and are ready to celebrate the New Year.

I decided to write about my best beauty discoveries of 2016. The products are not new products on the market but new to me. I have never tried these products before but now they are part of my go-to products and how they have made a difference to me. It’s so hard to keep up with new products but when you get around to buying products that have been around for awhile, you find that they are brilliant and you think ‘how did I not discover this earlier!’

All these I have reviewed in earlier posts.

All products I purchased myself.

This year I discovered Cream Blushes as I was worried if I could work with them and if they would look good on me.  I love the two cream blushers from Rosie for Autograph ‘Natures Blush’ &  Bobbi Brown Pot rouge for lips and cheeks ‘Powder Pink’. The formula of each of them is completely different from one another. The Rosie version is more velvety and the texture blends easily to a powder finish. The Bobbi Brown is more creamy and has a sticky feel to it. The result is a natural flush to the cheeks. Both are long lasting and easy to work with and I love them.

Benefit are a hit or miss company for me. Some good products but some disappointments too. This year they released new brow products. I tried 3 samples in 3 different magazines! Ready Set, Brow setting gel keeps the brows in place. Goof Proof Brow Pencil fills in the brow with the nicely angled tip. Gimme Brow is a volumizing fiber gel which fills in the gaps in your eyebrows and gives the brows a fuller look. I was very impressed by all three. They all lasted a long time and I loved how more defined my brows looked. They looked neater and fuller when I used them. Well worth buying the full size products.

I love lip products.  NYX Butter Gloss in ‘Strawberry Cheesecake’ is a creamy, long lasting lip gloss. Lip glosses are getting better and better. Better formula and so long lasting these days. Revlon Ultra HD Lip Colour ‘Devotion’ is a non-drying matte lip colour which is long lasting and looks just fantastic on the lips. The formula is superb. Matte and Shine lip glosses are fighting for supremacy and I loved both of these.

YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch.  One of the most iconic products in Make-up and one of the best. Nothing to add as it is already been said by countless people! Please read my YSL Touch Eclat post from August.

One Haircare product and that goes to Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oatmilk. It really works and so gentle  on the hair and the greasiness goes away too. No sickly scent either. 100% satisfaction with me.

Neal’s Yard Organic Make-up Remover is such a gentle remover of make-up. I have found that ‘natural’ products have difficulty in removing stubborn make-up sucth as mascaras. This one had no problem doing that and it also conditions your eye lashes as well. A winner in my book. I love cleansers and is one of the most important steps in skincare. Rodial’s Stem cell Cleansing Cream is a winner.  You also need a good scrub to remove dry patches and dull skin and Oskia’s Micro Exfoliating Balm does the job, 100% guaranteed. My husband loved it too! Once a week, you need to clean deep in the skin and remove the impurities and you need to use a masque. Exuviance Purifying Clay Masque has been a revelation to my skin. If you have problematic skin I can’t recommend this product enough, hugely impressed with this one.

After all the cleaning, you need to give back moisture and hydration, particular around the delicate areas around the eyes and I have been especially impressed by Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye. It gives you great hydration and helps keep these lines away! You can’t skip the serum and I have been loving the Balance Me Congested Skin Serum. Four bottles have been recycled and need to go and purchase another! It really works and keeps the breakouts under control and doesn’t dry the skin.

Two night creams, fighting for the glory of been the best but their both winners with me! Elemis Hydra-Nourish Night Cream and Garnier Miracle Sleeping Cream.  The Elemis left the skin is plumped, hydrated and re-balanced the skin. After waking up the next morning, I felt and saw the difference.  Elemis, I need a years’s supply of this stuff! The Garnier is as good in my view. My skin felt and looked hydrated, plump and with radiance. A great budget buy.

Have a Happy New Year and I hope 2017 brings lots of new products to try. Now to go sale hunting…

Hi Everybody,

Foundations is the most difficult make up to choose for yourself. The recommendation of a foundation to one person may suit their skin but may not suit another! There is so many different types of foundation on the market, there’s light coverage, full coverage, matte, glowing, tinted, powder. The list is endless and of course all skin types are different and we all have our personal preferences to the types of foundation we like!

My  skin is combination with can be oily and blemish prone or dehydrated and dry!  My personal preference is a glowing foundation and that gives radiance and a glow to the skin. I’m not a big fan of matte foundation but I will give some a go and try some!

Here are some foundations I have tried so far and there’s a lot to try!

No7 Instant Radiance Foundation in ‘Calico’. The packaging is perfect, travel friendly and when I travel I take this one! The automatic pump action sucks up everything so no waste! I used No7’s foundation match up service when first launched and this was the match it recommended. The  foundation itself is a perfect match to me. It is a light to medium coverage with cream consistency and evens out my skin tone. It is also SPF 15 and gives a lovely radiance to my skin.  It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin and so easy to apply on the skin. It works into the skin nicely. By the end of the day, it does slightly slide near my nose as I do wear glasses but it doesn’t really bother me. An excellent everyday foundation. I have re-purchased this so often!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in’Light Vanilla’. The packaging is glass with a pump action but you don’t collect all the foundation, unlike the No7. The range isn’t as large as the No7 so difficult to choose a perfect shade. This is also a light to medium coverage which you can build up. It is also similar in consistency to the No7 and easy to work with to blend in and works into the skin easily. It is also a bit more yellow in under tone than No7 ( which is a bit more pink) Good coverage but I do tend to use a bit more concealer to cover any blemishes I may have. No feeling of heaviness either on the skin but no SPF in it.  It does give a healthy glow but it does disappear at the end of the day. It’s a good everyday foundation that I have repurchased again.

L’Oreal True Match Foundation in ‘1N Ivory’. They have changed the formula so often, I’ve never had the opportunity to try previous foundations. The packaging is glass and has a pump action. This has a more liquid but dry consistency than the others. It does have quite light coverage. The colour match is perfect but it doesn’t blend as easy as the No7 or Boujois. It is quite drying and emphasizes  every single imperfection on my skin! It sits on the skin and I don’t like that. It also gives a matte finish on me and it slides off on my skin and it looks awful on me! I really wanted to like this as I have seen so many positive reviews on it but it just doesn’t work on me.

Rimmel Match Perfection Light Perfecting Radiance Foundation in ‘ 100 Ivory’. The packaging is glass and with a pump action. They have changed the formula on this foundation. I always liked this foundation and re-purchased often. Now it’s called Match Perfection Invisible Coverage Visibly Perfected Skin. My advice to Rimmel is go back to the original formula! The original foundation is a great blend of coverage and radiance and so easy to work with. This new foundation with ‘the pore blurring effect’ is rubbish compared to the original.  The imperfections can be seen and it slides off so easily. The original never did that. What a disappointment and I want the original foundation back!

I hope this helps people, who have a similar skin type to me, to find the right foundation. Now to try different foundations!
