March & April Favourites!

Hi Everybody,

I decided to combine March and April favourites so here we go!

SKINCARE

L’Oreal Smooth Sugars Nourish Scrub  is a new range of skincare from L’Oreal. I decided to try this but they have 2 more different scrubs in the range. It is a fine brown sugar scrub made from cocoa butter, coconut oil and cocoa grains. It felt gentle on the skin and exfolitated well and didn’t irritate or leave me with any breakouts. The skin felt very soft, smooth and velvety. You can also use this on your lips and the smell is delicious.

Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris is a alcohol free toner. It is for combination/oily skin and I love to use it in the evenings as an extra cleanse on my skin. It doesn’t dry or irritate my skin. I do love toners and I will always use them.

Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz is a 100% organic product and is reasonably priced! I use this in the mornings to refresh and hydrate the skin. It just the start my skin needs before I do my make up or if I want to be make-up free. The smell is pleasant with the damask rose scent and my skin loves it.

I have been using Clinque’s All About Eyes for a couple of months in the mornings. It is a gel cream constituency and you only need to use a tiny amount underneath the eyes. The makeup didn’t crease underneath and it really helped to hydrate the eyes and didn’t irritate me. It really helped to keep fine lines at bay!

I have been using Juliette Armand Elements 05 DNA Repair Serum for 4 months now and I have seen an improvement to my skin. The spots scars have diminished and the skin looks more even and less redness. It contains BIFIDUS bacterium and milk proteins and this stimulates the enzymatic system of the skin to identify and repair damages to the DNA of the skin cells. The skin feels less dehydrated and no irritation either. It absorbs easily into the skin and unlike other serums, my make up and foundation never slipped from my face. I still have another month left of product so I may have to buy another bottle!

MAKEUP

I found the Clarins Summer Eye Palette on sale in Debenhams. It is a beautiful designed 4 colour palette with a nice size mirror included. The colours are a nude-golden, brown-orange combination. You can do a natural look or even a smoky look for the evenings. Nicely pigmented and easy to blend shades. Perfect for the summer glow for the eyes!

I have never tried any products from this brand but the CYO Kohl Gel Eyeliner ‘Highflier’ has been excellent. The dark turquoise eyeliner was what I was looking for the summer. It was easy to draw the flick on the eyes and it didn’t smudge, crumble or fade and stayed on for a number of hours. The other great thing is that you don’t need to sharpen it as it is an retractable eyeliner!

YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils is a little sample I have been trying. The bristle brush is small but easy to apply with. It gave the lashes lift and volume. No smudge or crumbs under the eyes either, so a really great everyday mascara. I now have to buy the full size version!

Lancome Shine Lover ‘O My Rouge 120’ is a vibrant shiny lipstick. The colour is a raspberry red with hydrating glossy qualities. The staying power of the lipstick is excellent. It gives the lips a juicy fruity effect. It feels like a balm but with the staying powering look of a lipstick.

Barry M Holographic Lip Topper ‘Mermaid’ is right up my street. It smells fruity but not sickly. On the lips the colour is stunning. You can use it on its own or on top of lipstick, either look is amazing.g  The staying power on the lips is excellent and I wear it in the daytime too! A bit of bling-bling for the lips and the price is excellent too!

New Foundations!

Hi Everybody,

Foundations are quite personal to each person. I do love glowing foundations but they are quite difficult to find in the market. Because of this I stick to foundations that I know suit me. Boots No7 and Bourjois seem to look great on my skin so I buy them often.  I do like to try different foundations but I often find the shades difficult that match to my skin tone.

I have been trying to 2 recent foundations onto the market. Rosie for Autograph Amazing Skin Secret Foundation in the shade ‘Nude’ and No7 Aqua Perfect Cushion Foundation in ‘Calico’.

The Rosie for Autograph Amazing Skin Secret Foundation in ‘Nude’ is a liquid creamy formula with SPF30 in a frosted glass with a pump action. I like to apply foundation with a brush. It is a lightweight formula with medium coverage and it covers and evens out the skin tone. It leaves a silky, matte finish but it was a little cakey on my skin but it did hold through the day well. They say it leaves a luminous finish but I don’t see that on my skin! It was a good colour match and I liked the fact that it evened out the skin well (still needed to use concealer in small areas) A good affordable foundation but the shade range is quite limited for skin tones.

Boots No7  Aqua Perfect Cushion Foundation in ‘Calico’ is my first cushion foundation and I was quite excited to try it ( I must try the Lancome version!)  It looks like a compact which I really like. It is a liquid foundation with SPF15 with light to medium coverage which you can build up. I tried it with brush and sponge and it works well with both. No7 say that it is infused with purified water that leaves a cooling effect leaving the skin fresh and hydrated which it does! it applies so easily into the skin and evens out skin immediately and leaves the skin radiant. You can’t feel the foundation on the skin that it is so lightweight and I like that. It held all day on my skin without sliding and no cakiness. The formula is wonderful for me, it left a natural look which I like very much. This may be my go to foundation for some time..

Spot Zappers Update!

Hi Everybody,

Its been three years since my blog post on treatment for spots so it’s overdue for an update an other products I have been using. My skin is clearer and better now but in emergencies I have these two products sitting on my shelf to use.

Burt’s Bees Anti-Blemish Solutions Targeted Skin Spot Treatment with Willow Bark is a liquid formula which you dab on to a cotton bud and apply directly on the spot. I have found it is a strong solution which targets the spot quickly and you will be to see the difference the next day. It didn’t dry the skin around the spot area or irritated the skin but it calms the spot and heals the area quickly. I used only in the evenings for a couple of days and when my skin was clean and make up free. It is pricey but you only need to use a tiny amount so the 7.5ml will last for quite a while!

Dr Organic Skin Clear Tea Tree Treatment Gel 5 in 1 is a gel formula in a squeezable 10ml tube which you apply a small amount on your finger and onto the spot. It has little smell, unlike other tea tree products which can be strong. With this you feel no scent. You have to leave it to absorb it into the spot so it takes a little longer to target the spot compared to the Burt’s Bees liquid. It didn’t irritate or dry the skin so its quite mild but still works very well to eradicate the spots.

I like them both but for quick targeting of the spots I would choose the Burt’s Bees again. Nothing wrong with Dr Organic and it is very good value for money and a very good product.

Jimmy Choo ‘Blossom’ EDP!

Hi Everybody,

Spring has taken its time after the cold period we have had. The buds and blossom from Magnolia trees are almost out and the spring flowers;tulips, hyacinth and narcissus are in bloom and I love it.

Jimmy Choo ‘Blossom’ is the appropriate spring scent I have been wearing lately. I have to mention the bottle design first. The multi faceted bottle and the diamond cap, together with ombre pink effect has a nice tactile feel and it likes great.

The scent is fruity, sweet and floral.  When you first spray, citrus hits you followed by the raspberries and berries.  The floral comes in later with rose and sweet pie. The dry down you can feel the hint of white musk. It is a nice bouquet of different scents which works nicely without being overpowering.

Like the box it is a pink scent but not to sweet or sugary. Its a modern girly scent who is wearing a sparkly dress with a cocktail in her hand!

Happy Easter everyone!

February Favourites!

Hi Everybody,

I know we are in the middle of March so I’m a bit late for February favourites but I had to share my likes!

SKINCARE,BODYCARE & MAKE-UP

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed is a really nice cream cleanser. I use this as my second cleanser and it leaves my skin refreshed and clean. It’s for normal/combination skin and it doesn’t dry the skin out. It  also has a nice subtle scent and you only need a pea-sized amount. You mix it with water and its enough to cleanses the face and neck. Its great for everyday use and I like it a lot.

OM Skincare Cleanse & Glow Konjac Sponge is a 100% natural made from Kinjac Vegetable fibre. Its perfect for all skin types including sensitive skin. You can use your favourite cleanser on it or you can use it without any cleanser. Its great to detoxify the skin as it unclogs pores or if you have acne problems. You always soak it with warm water to soften it. Using circular movements I apply it the most needed areas to my face where I have problematic areas and to cleanse my face. It is very gentle to use and my skin loves it! I really need to try the sponges in the collection as you need to replace every 2 months.

Dermalogica Age Smart Daily Superfoliant is a powder exfolitant. You mix a little with water and turn it into a paste with your hands and work it into your face. I really like non-abrasive exfolitators like this as it resurfaces the skin and fights the pollution which accelerates skin aging. My skin felt brighter, glowing and smoother. I experienced no breakouts or dryness using this advanced facial exfolitator.

I like Beauty Pie products and the Plantastic Youth Guard Eye Cream has been my eye cream for a few months. It found that it hydrated under my eyes as I experienced some slight dryness. It didn’t irritate me and I think it has helped the early signs of aging. Make sure you read the instructions and you have to pat it around the eye area and not to rub it in!Bargaintastic!!

I was too lazy to make my own lip scrub as I saw the new Barry M Lip Scrubs. They have two flavours in Mint and Mango. I choose the mango flavour and it is a sugary scrub which makes your skin non-drying and smooth. Perfect to prepare before putting on your favourite lipstick.

This is my first try with IT Cosmetic Brow Power in ‘Universal Taupe’. Its a nice, handy brow pencil. It has a pencil at one end and the other end has a brush. The pencil hand is flat so it is easy to fill in the gaps. The shade matches nicely to your brows and I have found that it stayed on throughout the day. It shouldn’t disappoint considering the price!

I purchased NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer in ‘Light Vanilla’ as I heard so many good things about it from others reviewers so as my Laura Mercier concealer had finished, I bite the bullet and bought it. It comes in a pot rather than a palette and I only used it to cover imperfections or spots. I have found that this concealer doesn’t dry out the areas you had applied on unlike others I have tried. I was a bit worried about it being a matte finish but I was pleasantly surprised and it looked good and covered the areas well. It held for approximately six hours but you will need to re-apply it if worn all day.

The Body Shop Hawiian Kukui Rich Nurturing Body Cream is from the Spa of the World range.First of all the scent is very sweet and nutty. This is a very rich cream so perfect for those with dry skin. Its a fabulous, luxurious  moisturizing cream to restore your skin’s suppleness and hydration. My skin felt great after using it.

The Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Yogurt smells delicious with the apricot and honey scent. Its a lightweight cream which nourishes and moisturises for up to 48 hours. It absorbs easily into the skin quickly and it didn’t leaves any stickiness, much to my husband’s approval! A great body care choice and reasonably priced!

On My Nails- BarryM ‘Supersonic’.

Hi Everybody,

Hope everybody had a wonderful St Valentine’s day and you were spoiled by your loved ones!

I do like BarryM nail vanishes, I always find them great value,  a wonderful range of colours and very good quality. I decided to try from their Speedy Quick Dry range in the colour ‘Supersonic’. Its’ a bright royal blue with purple/pink shimmer.

I applied Mavala base coat and then I applied 2 coats of the colour. You do need to apply a minimum of 2 coats as the first coat is a little sheer but 2 coats is perfect. It dries very quickly and I then Sally Hansen top coat to finish it off.

It did a last a good week on me without major chipping. I was really impressed by the finish and the colour of it. The colour really stands out, it reminded me of the colour the character Sonic the Hedgehog was! Supersonic indeed!!

Soaper Duper Body Products!

Hi Everybody,

I have wanted to try these new products since they were announced and I finally managed to get my hands on them.

Me and my sister went Christmas decoration shopping at the Range and luckily there is a large Tesco supermarket, who now stock Soaper Duper products, nearby. Kill two birds with one stone as they say!

They formulate with real ingredients so no plastic microbeads, no parabens, no phthalates and they sell them in big, basic, pistachio green plastic bottles. The body wash bottle reminds me of a cloud when you hold it on the side!

Of the range available, I particular liked three scents so I decided to pick up random products from the scents I liked. The one that stood out for me was the Deluxe Yuserfruit & Fig body wash.  The smell is divine, lots of fruit and a fresh greeness to it.  The fig makes such a difference to this body wash. I’m in the clouds with this body wash. I really really want this in a body lotion and scrub but they don’t. Soaper Duper, please make a scrub and body lotion in this scent!

I also bought the Zesty Lemon Body Scrub which has fine exfoliating coconut and luffa grains and shea butter suds and glycerin. All this helps to exfolitate the body leaving it gentle to the skin. So far I have been impressed by how well it exfolitates the body.

The last one I bought was the Shea Butter Body Lotion. This has pressed vanilla pods infused shea butter and Vitamin E. It also has various oil including  Coconut oil, cotton seed oil, peach kernel oil, meadowfoam seed oil, sweet almond oil and macadamia oil.  If you love vanilla you will love this. It does a little longer to rub it into the body but it moisturizers the body so well the skin feels so soft and smooth. Your body is almost lick-able in fact!

I really like these products, they feel luxurious, full of natural goodness (most are 90% plus natural)  they don’t cost a lot and they work great on you! What’s not to love about them?
