New Foundations..

Hi Everyone,

I have been trying 3 foundations new to me. If I like a foundation, I tend to re-purchase again and again as I am quite picky when it comes to foundations. Unfortunately 2 of my go-to foundations have been discontinued, No7 ‘Aqua Perfect Cushion’ and the No7 ‘Instant Radiance’, both in the shade ‘Calico’. There is always new foundations on the market and I am always willing to try new foundations but getting one that looks and matches to your skin is always tricky. My number one priority for a foundation is to make my skin look radiant but also give good coverage!

First one is Revlon Photoready Candid anti pollution Foundation in ‘Ivory’. This is a new concept to include anti pollution and anti oxidants in the making of these foundations. Its a medium build-able foundation with a thicker than normal consistency. I had to still use a concealer to hide some of my blemishes. It’s a slightly matt finish and you have to work a little quicker than a normal foundation. If you have dry areas you will be able to see them. I do like the squeezable tube as you can get all the foundation out unlike some of the glass bottles which always leaves a small amount when you finish it. Its OK but not sure if I will purchase it again.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrated Gel Cream in ‘Opal’ is again bottled in a tube. It’s a light, gel cream consistency. I have to say the colour shade was perfect for me. As it’s a light cream this would be perfect for people who don’t like heavy foundation and prefer a more natural look. Coverage was not very good for me and I found it very difficult to blend it onto my skin. If you have perfect skin it’s a great foundation but if you are like me you have blemishes the coverage was quite poor and didn’t look right on me. It is also an SPF30 which is really good if you have forgotten to apply SPF before going out. It is quite expensive at £29 and not one I will buy again.

No7 HydraLuminous Moisturising Foundation in ‘Calico’ is in a convenient lightweight tube. The colour is perfect for me. It is a creamy, runny in its consistency so easier for me to work with it. It seem to melt in to my skin and moisturises. It is a medium coverage and is a SPF15. My skin looked hydrated and the dry patches less visible. My skin did glow and gave the radiance I like in a foundation. I still had to use a little concealer to cover some imperfections. I have to say my skin looked and felt better after using this one compared to the others. A little foundation did slide slightly on my forehead but nothing major.

Of the 3 the stand out was No7. It is not perfect but it did give me the radiance and coverage I like in my foundation. I know I’m picky when choosing a foundation as we are all different in what we want from them. The wonderful thing is that companies are always inventing different formulas so the pursuit to find the perfect foundation will always continue..

Givenchy L’Interdit EDP!

Hi Everybody,

I hope everyone is well and keeping safe as we adjust our lives to this awful virus. We must try to keep positive and remember to enjoy our lives and what we hold dear.

I have had this particular perfume sitting on my shelf for quite a while so I decided to give it some love and talk about it. This is my second Givenchy perfume after my beloved Angel and Demon Les Secret which is now sadly discontinued.

L’Interdit was first introduced in 1957 and was dedicated to Audrey Hepburn. The modern version, I am reviewing, came out in 2018. The thick glass bottle pays homage to the original version with a more modern outline with the modern 4G outline added to the black ribbon around the neck. I do love to know the background which inspires the designers when creating a fragrance.

The beginning is very fresh and sweet. The distinctive opening has pears and peaches. The middle notes is when the floral interplays with the fruitness, jasmine, vanilla and tuberose come to the fore. The dry down is when the patchouli and vetiver appear with musk in the background..

If there is one word which could describe this perfume it would be sophisticated. This is a chic, modern perfume perfect for all times of the year as it is neither too heady or overbearing to me. This perfume is perfect for spring..

My Body Loves!

Hi Everyone,

After pregnancy I have found that the body needs some extra care and attention. After showering my body has been screaming for some moisture and hydration. So in the need of these things, I have been using up some new body products I had purchased and used up.

Soap & Glory Call of Fruity Bubble in Paradise is a beautiful refreshing moisturising shower gel which has a fruity, exotic scent which is just pure pleasure to lather yourself in the shower. It’s so good you almost want to sing and dance in the shower!

Dove Exfoliating Body Scrub with Pomegranate Seeds and Shea Butter is a finely textured creamy scrub with natural nutrients. The consistency is thick, almost like clotted cream. My skin felt so soft and gentle to the skin. Its almost edible too! I have already repurchased the product three times!

Nivea Body Mousse Wild Raspberry and White Tea is a moisturiser which seems to me like a man’s shaving cream! You squirt into your hands and the texture is a mousse but it becomes a creamy/oily consistency but it feels light when you apply it into your body. It absorbs very easily into the skin and has a pleasant scent too.

Astral Original Intensive Moisturiser is a tried and tested product over 60 years. I saw this little pot and I was curious to give it a go. It has 2 main ingredients, Glycerine and Lanolin. It is a very thick cream but it works fantastic. If you have dry skin like a desert I guarantee that your skin afterwards will feel like a slippery eel! One downside is the scent. It smells like like a shoe polish. I was slapping this on my arse and legs but my boobs didn’t want to know!

Neutrogena Visibly Renew Elasti-Boost Body Lotion is another daily body lotion. It provides long-lasting moisture but also helps restore the skin’s elasticity. It provides hydration with active minerals, which help boost skin’s own collagen production. it is a non-greasy, quick absorbing texture that leaves the skin delicately scented and very soft. After pregnancy I noticed that my skin needs a lot of hydration and this has really worked to help get some moisture back.

I have really enjoyed these products. The beauty industry is full of expensive products but the budget brands are getting better with constant changes in technology and ingredients to make products that can work for us all so we can have silky soft bodies.

YSL ‘Mon Paris’ EDP.

Hi Everyone!

This is my second fragrance from YSL, Mon Paris translates into English as ‘My Paris’. I have visited Paris and loved it so much, particular the Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe (especially when you visit the top of both!)and of course Notre Dame.

This perfume was launched in mid 2016. The bottle is a sweet faceted design with a final touch of a cute black bow with the mark of YSL.

The perfume is a fruity and floral bouquet. Think of putting your head in a bowl of fruit and flowers and the scent is just like that, its an explosion of sweet and delicious. Raspberries, strawberries and pears are the fruity element while bergamot, jasmine and peony give the floral part.

The dry down becomes musky and patchouli comes to the fore and also a slight woodiness in the background.

I have found this to be long lasting on me and I can wear it day or night and its not heady at all, it feels like you are wrapped by scented clouds . Any age can wear this, it has a timeless quality to it just like the city itself..

Burberry ‘Her’ EDP!

Hi Everybody,

Three weeks to Christmas and I can’t believe the year has flown by. It just shows you have to enjoy every moment in this world..

This is the first Burberry perfume of my collection. When I tried it in a shop when it came out last October I knew it was my type of fragrance.

The bottle is a simple, minimalist even bottle. It looks like a flask which would contain whisky! The packaging is a simple slide out pressed cupboard box.

The scent is a sweet floral fragrance. Imagine a slender glass filled with the sweetest strawberries, raspberries and cherries filled with prosecco and topped with whipped cream and you floating in it. That’s what the scent is too me! Citrus notes are there to balance the sweetness.I feel the middle notes of jasmine and violet. In the dry down the vanilla gives the warmth and headiness. Patchouli and musk are in the background to fuse all the parts together. This is a distinctive, rich perfume and the longevity is outstanding, one little spray is more than enough to last the day.

This is an uplifting perfume to me. It is a sweet fest which I will happily wear in the summer or winter come rain or shine!

My Skin Loves…

Hello Everybody,

I have been using 5 interesting skin care products for my combination skin recently that have really impressed me, some expensive and some not so expensive! Having combination skin is tricky work as you have to balance the blemishes or dryness!

I recently took the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Spotscan skin analysis test and it recommended some products and one of them was their Effaclar Astringent Micro-Exfoliant Anti-Blackheads Lotion. Its a lovely everyday lotion which keeps the impurities under control. I do suffer breakouts when I have my time of the month so this has been a real help to me in keeping my face cleansed.

Your Good Skin Rapid Rescue Treatment Blemish Clearing is a lightweight gel which you apply direct to the blemish to reduce it. I have been really thoroughly impressed by it as my blemishes reduced considerably after using it. You have to re-apply it everyday to keep the bacteria under control so the spot doesn’t come back but it also soothes and heals the skin. The ingredients includes 2% Salicylic Acid which is the key ingredient to treat the blemishes.

Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum is a gel-creamy consistency serum which keeps the dehydration at bay. This is a lovely, lovely serum, expensive but worth every penny. If you can afford it on a regular basis, buy it as you won’t regret it!

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is one product I have been saving for sooooo long! I finally decided to use it and I’ve loved it. The rich marine and plant actives work to smooth and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s a wonderful product and widely regarded as one of the best in the market and after using it I am a total convert to it.

From an expensive, renowned cream to a great budget bargain, Simple Skin Quench Sleeping Cream has really impressed me. This silky light moisturizer which I put an every night before going to bed locks the moisture in to the skin and you can instantly feel the plumpness to the skin. if you have minor break outs, it also helps to prevent them because if you have dehydrated it can cause blemishes too! I had no irritation, redness or breakouts from using it and my skin felt hydrated. This is a sure fire winner!

The one thing I enjoy about skincare is that your skin can look and feel good without having to break the bank. Yes, I have included Elemis and Drunk Elephant but Your Good Skin and Simple prove that you can buy great skin care for under ten pounds! Companies are constantly improving what they are putting into the ingredients and this is only good for us ladies who want their skin too look great.

All have been used up, loved and all will go into the recycling bin!

Jean Paul Gaultier ‘Classique’ Essence de Parfum!

Hi everybody,

In 2016 Jean Paul Gaultier’s reinvented his classic fragrance collection by turning them into a more sophisticated perfume. Naturally he kept the beautiful female torso bottle which is classic design. It only differs to the original fragrance as the breasts are smaller but the hips are slightly more pronounced!

The perfume when you spray has a slightly, warm spicy beginning. Ginger and citrus are the main opening notes. Jasmine and orange comes to the fore in the middle notes. The dry down is when the vanilla takes over with cream and toffee but with floral still in the background. Woody notes are there too which gives the warmth to the perfume. This is a rich, heady perfume perfect for the coming winter but not for the summer as it is too powerful.

This is a intoxicating, sexy, feminine perfume. If you wanted to seduce a man this is the perfume, this is a sex in the bottle perfume! I love it.

Facial Cleansers!

Hello Everybody,

Today I will review 4 facial cleansers I have been using in my daily routine. All 4 products were new to me and tried for the first time and my overview on them.

Olay Daily Facial in a Box was an accidental discovery in Superdrug. It’s a box of 30 dry cloths which you activate with water. It helps to remove make up and exfolitate at the same time! I was intrigued by how it works and guess what it does! It didn’t dry my skin at all and I had no breakouts from using it. Its travel friendly as it doesn’t dry out because it is dry and is only activated when wet. A clever concept which I will purchase again.

Vichy Purete Thermale 3 in 1 is a cleansing milk, toner and eye make up remover all in one. It is a milky, light consistency and is perfect if you don’t wear a lot of make up. It is for sensitive skin and I had no dryness or breakouts from using it. Not my favourite but a safe, everyday cleanser.

Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Cleansing Oil-in-Gel is in my view to be used as a second cleanser. It is an oily, thick liquid with 3 precious seed oils; Black Cumin, Rosehip and Camellia. I didn’t use it as an everyday cleanser but an occasional treat for the skin My skin felt clean as the impurities were removed and the skin was moisturized and looked radiant too. A lovely purchase and the scent is wonderful too!

CeraVe Foaming Cleanser is a fragrance and soap free cleanser for normal to oily skin. It cleans and removes oil without disrupting the natural oils in the skin. It has a jelly-like consistency and I was impressed by it. I used it as a second cleanser when I had some breakouts. It really worked in keeping the breakouts to a minimum. It didn’t feel heavy or harsh and didn’t dry my skin as others can do. I’m on my second bottle as it’s reasonably priced and a super everyday cleanser.

Nothing wrong with any of them as they are all good and do the job required. They are easy to find on the high street and good value for money.

Versace Pour Femme ‘Dylan Blue

Hello everybody,

I hope everybody is enjoying the English Summer enjoying the summer fruits and lots of ice cream!

Today I want to write about a beautiful perfume. Versace made their first perfume in 1981 and have created 58 perfumes in total. I have only one perfume in my collection, Versace Pour Femme ‘Dylan Blue’.

First to say is the design of the bottle which is inspired by Greek culture. The design is reminiscent of an Amphora. The colour of the bottle is a cobalt blue which echoes the depth of colour of the Mediterranean Sea; strong and mysterious. The gold decoration includes Medusa. To me the bottle reminds me of an old ink bottle! I love the design of it, dramatic and bold.

The first spray hits you with the fruit notes, apples, peaches and blackcurrant to the fore with a hint of clove. The middle notes is when the floral notes come through. Jasmine, rose and patchouli. The dry down is warm, musky and woody.

It is a strong, sensuous perfume, perfect for the mysterious Greek goddess!

The Body Shop ‘Banana Truly Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner’!

Hi everybody,

I hope everybody is enjoying the summer and eating lots of fruit! Talking of fruit, I have been trying The Body Shop Banana range of hair products. I tend to stick with the well-known makers of hair products such as Pantene, Schwartzkopf and Head & Shoulders but I read reviews of the Body Shop Banana shampoos so decided to give them a go. As you already know I do like Body Shop products anyway!

I purchased the smaller sizes but they do bigger sizes too. The formula is thankfully made without silicones as silicones prevents moisture and essential oils getting to the hair so long term use of silicones is bad news! The shampoo is for normal to dry hair. When you wash your hair, it felt very nice to use when I showered and the smell was pure banana so truly delicious! My hair after dry down felt so soft, so light and manageable and so easy to work with. I could still feel the banana scent! Usually I leave 3 days before washing my hair again and it held up well without looking greasy and limp.

I have to say I was very impressed by the range and it really proved to me not just to look at the big hair brands but to look elsewhere. I usually go to The Body Shop for skincare, body care and make and never looked at their hair range and they are as good as the bigger companies.
