Three weeks to Christmas and I can’t believe the year has flown by. It just shows you have to enjoy every moment in this world..
This is the first Burberry perfume of my collection. When I tried it in a shop when it came out last October I knew it was my type of fragrance.
The bottle is a simple, minimalist even bottle. It looks like a flask which would contain whisky! The packaging is a simple slide out pressed cupboard box.
The scent is a sweet floral fragrance. Imagine a slender glass filled with the sweetest strawberries, raspberries and cherries filled with prosecco and topped with whipped cream and you floating in it. That’s what the scent is too me! Citrus notes are there to balance the sweetness.I feel the middle notes of jasmine and violet. In the dry down the vanilla gives the warmth and headiness. Patchouli and musk are in the background to fuse all the parts together. This is a distinctive, rich perfume and the longevity is outstanding, one little spray is more than enough to last the day.
This is an uplifting perfume to me. It is a sweet fest which I will happily wear in the summer or winter come rain or shine!
I have been using 5 interesting skin care products for my combination skin recently that have really impressed me, some expensive and some not so expensive! Having combination skin is tricky work as you have to balance the blemishes or dryness!
I recently took the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Spotscan skin analysis test and it recommended some products and one of them was their Effaclar Astringent Micro-Exfoliant Anti-Blackheads Lotion. Its a lovely everyday lotion which keeps the impurities under control. I do suffer breakouts when I have my time of the month so this has been a real help to me in keeping my face cleansed.
Your Good Skin Rapid Rescue Treatment Blemish Clearing is a lightweight gel which you apply direct to the blemish to reduce it. I have been really thoroughly impressed by it as my blemishes reduced considerably after using it. You have to re-apply it everyday to keep the bacteria under control so the spot doesn’t come back but it also soothes and heals the skin. The ingredients includes 2% Salicylic Acid which is the key ingredient to treat the blemishes.
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum is a gel-creamy consistency serum which keeps the dehydration at bay. This is a lovely, lovely serum, expensive but worth every penny. If you can afford it on a regular basis, buy it as you won’t regret it!
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is one product I have been saving for sooooo long! I finally decided to use it and I’ve loved it. The rich marine and plant actives work to smooth and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s a wonderful product and widely regarded as one of the best in the market and after using it I am a total convert to it.
From an expensive, renowned cream to a great budget bargain, Simple Skin Quench Sleeping Cream has really impressed me. This silky light moisturizer which I put an every night before going to bed locks the moisture in to the skin and you can instantly feel the plumpness to the skin. if you have minor break outs, it also helps to prevent them because if you have dehydrated it can cause blemishes too! I had no irritation, redness or breakouts from using it and my skin felt hydrated. This is a sure fire winner!
The one thing I enjoy about skincare is that your skin can look and feel good without having to break the bank. Yes, I have included Elemis and Drunk Elephant but Your Good Skin and Simple prove that you can buy great skin care for under ten pounds! Companies are constantly improving what they are putting into the ingredients and this is only good for us ladies who want their skin too look great.
All have been used up, loved and all will go into the recycling bin!
In 2016 Jean Paul Gaultier’s reinvented his classic fragrance collection by turning them into a more sophisticated perfume. Naturally he kept the beautiful female torso bottle which is classic design. It only differs to the original fragrance as the breasts are smaller but the hips are slightly more pronounced!
The perfume when you spray has a slightly, warm spicy beginning. Ginger and citrus are the main opening notes. Jasmine and orange comes to the fore in the middle notes. The dry down is when the vanilla takes over with cream and toffee but with floral still in the background. Woody notes are there too which gives the warmth to the perfume. This is a rich, heady perfume perfect for the coming winter but not for the summer as it is too powerful.
This is a intoxicating, sexy, feminine perfume. If you wanted to seduce a man this is the perfume, this is a sex in the bottle perfume! I love it.
Today I will review 4 facial cleansers I have been using in my daily routine. All 4 products were new to me and tried for the first time and my overview on them.
Olay Daily Facial in a Box was an accidental discovery in Superdrug. It’s a box of 30 dry cloths which you activate with water. It helps to remove make up and exfolitate at the same time! I was intrigued by how it works and guess what it does! It didn’t dry my skin at all and I had no breakouts from using it. Its travel friendly as it doesn’t dry out because it is dry and is only activated when wet. A clever concept which I will purchase again.
Vichy Purete Thermale 3 in 1 is a cleansing milk, toner and eye make up remover all in one. It is a milky, light consistency and is perfect if you don’t wear a lot of make up. It is for sensitive skin and I had no dryness or breakouts from using it. Not my favourite but a safe, everyday cleanser.
Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Cleansing Oil-in-Gel is in my view to be used as a second cleanser. It is an oily, thick liquid with 3 precious seed oils; Black Cumin, Rosehip and Camellia. I didn’t use it as an everyday cleanser but an occasional treat for the skin My skin felt clean as the impurities were removed and the skin was moisturized and looked radiant too. A lovely purchase and the scent is wonderful too!
CeraVe Foaming Cleanser is a fragrance and soap free cleanser for normal to oily skin. It cleans and removes oil without disrupting the natural oils in the skin. It has a jelly-like consistency and I was impressed by it. I used it as a second cleanser when I had some breakouts. It really worked in keeping the breakouts to a minimum. It didn’t feel heavy or harsh and didn’t dry my skin as others can do. I’m on my second bottle as it’s reasonably priced and a super everyday cleanser.
Nothing wrong with any of them as they are all good and do the job required. They are easy to find on the high street and good value for money.
I hope everybody is enjoying the English Summer enjoying the summer fruits and lots of ice cream!
Today I want to write about a beautiful perfume. Versace made their first perfume in 1981 and have created 58 perfumes in total. I have only one perfume in my collection, Versace Pour Femme ‘Dylan Blue’.
First to say is the design of the bottle which is inspired by Greek culture. The design is reminiscent of an Amphora. The colour of the bottle is a cobalt blue which echoes the depth of colour of the Mediterranean Sea; strong and mysterious. The gold decoration includes Medusa. To me the bottle reminds me of an old ink bottle! I love the design of it, dramatic and bold.
The first spray hits you with the fruit notes, apples, peaches and blackcurrant to the fore with a hint of clove. The middle notes is when the floral notes come through. Jasmine, rose and patchouli. The dry down is warm, musky and woody.
It is a strong, sensuous perfume, perfect for the mysterious Greek goddess!
I hope everybody is enjoying the summer and eating lots of fruit! Talking of fruit, I have been trying The Body Shop Banana range of hair products. I tend to stick with the well-known makers of hair products such as Pantene, Schwartzkopf and Head & Shoulders but I read reviews of the Body Shop Banana shampoos so decided to give them a go. As you already know I do like Body Shop products anyway!
I purchased the smaller sizes but they do bigger sizes too. The formula is thankfully made without silicones as silicones prevents moisture and essential oils getting to the hair so long term use of silicones is bad news! The shampoo is for normal to dry hair. When you wash your hair, it felt very nice to use when I showered and the smell was pure banana so truly delicious! My hair after dry down felt so soft, so light and manageable and so easy to work with. I could still feel the banana scent! Usually I leave 3 days before washing my hair again and it held up well without looking greasy and limp.
I have to say I was very impressed by the range and it really proved to me not just to look at the big hair brands but to look elsewhere. I usually go to The Body Shop for skincare, body care and make and never looked at their hair range and they are as good as the bigger companies.
I love mascaras. Mascaras lift your eyes and makes them pop! I always feel that my eyes are naked without it as they can totally change your look.
I have had a stash of mascaras which I have used and finally I can write about them! Some good, some not so good.
Tanya Burr Cosmetic Selfie Lash has a rubber wand made of small rubber bristles. The brush is small and slightly rounded but flexible and is easy to work with. It elongates the lashes and you can build up the mascara for a more dramatic look. It lasted for quite a long time during the day and only at the end of the day did I notice some slight smudging. I did like it and very reasonably priced too.
No7 Extreme Length Waterproof Mascara is the only waterproof mascara I tried. The wand is a simple and straight lade from a rubber material and is quite spiky. It separates and elongates your lashes very nicely. It stayed quite well for the day and to remove it you need to use waterproof eye make up remover. A very good everyday mascara.
Covergirl Lashblast Fusion Water resistant has a small, fat rubber wand with small bristles. It was not water resistant at all. It gives a natural wet look which I didn’t like and it gave me no volume or length. I was not very impressed with this mascara so a big let down.
Max Factor Dark Magic Instant Dramatic Volume Mascara has a strange wavy bristle wand. I presume it was designed to give the mascara more volume to your lashes. It did leave the lashes with a heavy, dramatic look. Obviously it didn’t separate the eyelashes. A downside for me was that it dried up in the tube quite quickly. It was an OK mascara but I won’t be buying it again.
YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils has a small, slightly rounded bristled wand. This gave a beautiful look to the lashes, volume and length were fantastic. It built up easily with the easy to use wand. It was effortless to get the ideal look for my eyes. The stand out mascara I used over the time.
The YSL was excellent and the best but then so it should be. The Tanya Burr and the No 7 for the tighter budget were very good too use and great everyday products.
Thankfully we are all different and every person has a different view on what the mascara should do for their eyes.
