MAC VIVA GLAM – Rhianna.

Hi Everybody,

Happy Easter to you all.

Today, I am trying out my first MAC lipstick from the Viva Glam collaboration with Rhianna. I missed out at the previous collaborations with different celebrities and when I saw the new collection with Rhianna, I was determined to buy them. I went to the MAC store in Brighton and they had sold out. Luckily my husband was in London and popped into Selfridge’s and bought them for me as a surprise gift!

The packaging in the lipstick is shaped like a bullet and has a red rubber-type feel to it. The lipstick is a blue -red frost finish slightly muted red. It is a real wow lipstick and holds very well and doesn’t dry on your lips.

The Lipglass is a soft raspberry red with a shimmer to it. On it’s own it is quite sticky on the lips so I think you need to apply it on lipstick for the best effect.

I suppose people will say they are quite pricey but proceeds go to Aids and HIV charities.

Buys of the Week – Space NK,No 7, Miller Harris

Hi all,

A little haul I have bought recently to review. Some nice things out there on the high street so I did buy a few things. First up is the Space NK items I bought in Tunbridge Wells. My eyes were running around with so many wonderful things there!

Caudalie Hand & Nail Cream – Liz Eldridge mentioned this hand cream in one of her videos. As you all know I love my hand creams. This cream is richin anti-oxidant grape, avocado and shea butter to nourish, protect and repair your hands. It is made up of 98% natural ingredients. It has a beautiful scent and is not at all greasy and absorbs really well.

Nuxe ‘Reve de Miel’ Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm -This has honey, plant oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence. I have never tried Nuxe products before and I want to try more of their ranges. It has a lovely glass pot which is filled to the top! It really is a thick paste and I think it will last me a long time as you don’t need to use too much on your lips. It really smells of honey and I have only started to use it so I can’t tell if it works just yet.

No7- I had to buy another bottle of the Instant Radiance foundation in Calico and my eyes were drawn to the new blusher they had, Peony Petals blush palette. This is a lovely pink blusher with a tiny amount of shimmer in it. I have never tried No7 nail polishes before and I bought two of them. Pink Blossom and Spring Meadow. Both are perfect for the spring. I also bought a No7 High Shine Lip Crayon in Delicate Pink. This is a sheer glossy colour which has a lightweight feel to it. Because I bought 2 or more products, I was given a gift box of goodies. It contained a Skin Illuminator Radiance Boosting Beauty Fluid in peach, High Shine Lip Crayon in Delicate pink (a small sample of one I bought!) Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in Cappuccino Trio and a Exceptional Definition Mascara in Black. No7 really do some nice gift give-aways and I have always found them to be of very good quality.

Miller Harris ‘Noix de Tubereuse – TK Maxx have finally arrived in Eastbourne and even though I was disappointed by the range of clothes( I think I will stick to the  bigger Brighton store) they had, I did finally buy myself  my first Miller Harris candle! It was the only one there and my jaw dropped! I had to have it. It is a wonderful aroma of tonka beans, amber and violets. As it is natural wax you do need to burn it for approximately two hours to get the beautiful scent around the room. I paid £24.99 instead of £40.00. That is a bargain and I can’t wait to visit the shop and try the perfume.

Hope you liked my mini haul.

March Favourites

Hi all,

Some of the products I have used in March.

Body Products

Neal’s Yard English Lavender Body Lotion & Bath Shower Gel –  The shower gel smells nice in the bottle but showering with it, I felt like a cow in a barn coating myself with dry grass! It smells quite strong in the bottle but it doesn’t feel so much after showering as you only smell a delicate amount on yourself. The lotion really does moisturise beautifully and it did make a difference.

Face Products

Weleda Refining Toner – I have written about Weleda products before and they really do work. I like using toners before putting on moisturisers as it freshens the skin and love the feeling of that. This one contains witch hazel which helps with blemishes on your skin and doesn’t dry the skin.

Weleda Iris Moisture Balancing Hydrating Facial Lotion – This a watery based lotion, not at all thick and greasy. It is very light when applied to the skin. It absorbs really well and keeps the balance of moisture to your skin. I used normal to combination and really recommend this. You can also use it under make-up and in the night as well. Love this!

Hand Products

Crabtree & Evelyn Spiced Vanilla Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy – The texture of the cream is really good and it did moisturise, not at all greasy but the smell is too strong, almost sickly, for hand cream. The ingredients mentions perfume which I don’t think should be in hand cream. Too much preservatives in this hand cream for me.

L’Occitane Passionate Jasmine Hand Cream – I like all L’Occitane hand creams, this is no different to the others. A lovely subtle scent and it really moisturised  my hands.

Lanolips Rose Hand Balm Intense – Smells old fashioned to me,like your granny would use! Disappointed with this I’m afraid for the quality isn’t there compared to others.  It was meant to be really good for very dry hands but this failed for me.

Make-Up Products

Rimmel ‘Hide the Blemish Concealer – It was OK nothing special. It didn’t really hold for me so I will have to find something else..

L’Oreal Lumi Magique pure light Primer – This was very light on the skin, didn’t give break outs and it really gave a beautiful glow when I applied before foundation. it didn’t dry the skin and I really liked this product.

L’Occitane Pivoine Delicate Lipstick  Limited Edition – It looks dark but when applied on your lips it becomes a beautiful subtle pinkish peachy colour. Doesn’t dry the lips and the packaging is lovely as well. Just love it and it’s a shame you can’t get it any more.

Perfumes

The end of two perfumes from my collection.

Escada Ocean Lounge – My sister bought this for me when I was still living in Latvia approximately six years ago! A floral, fruity perfume, just like me! Love this so much.

Paris Hilton Heiress – My sister bought this for my youngest sister but didn’t like it so I used it instead. When I moved to the UK, I couldn’t find it anywhere but my husband did find a bottle of it! It is a fruity perfume with passion fruit, peach, orange and champagne! The middle has ylang-ylang, jasmine and honeysuckle. A nice everyday perfume for me and one I enjoyed using.

Penhaligon’s Lilly of the Valley

Hi,

Spring is with us, the flowers are in bloom, the buds are on the tree and you need to smell like a blossoming flower. The perfume girl has the perfect spring scent for you. Penhaligon’s Lilly of the Valley.

Penhaligon’s was founded in the late 1860s by William Penhaligon, a Cornish barber who moved to London and who became Court Barber and Perfumer  to Queen Victoria.  Lilly of the Valley was created in 1976 and it is a classic in my view.

The bottle and packaging is  wonderfully simple and classy. The bottle reminds me of something from a old pharmacy and is embossed ‘Penhaligon London’. The bow finishes it perfectly and even the box is nice quality, better than so many. The label is traditional, just as they would have been 100 years ago.

The scent reminds me of been in a forest and it has been raining and the air is light, fresh and you can smell the moss and you feel uplifted by it. It is a wonderful bouquet of flowers that surrounds you and you never want to let it go. This isn’t a girly, sickly scent, it is a feminine scent perfect for the spring and summer.
