Hi Everybody,

I do love my lipsticks. The pop of colour makes a world of difference to the face.

Burts Bees is best known for its skincare & body care but they have in recent times branched out to create lipstick collections. Burts Bees say they 100% natural and are formulated with moringa and raspberry seed oils. I bought three lipsticks, 2 from the satin range and 1 from the glossy range.

The packaging is a simple beehive design and the pattern allows you to see the colour. I bought a shade called ‘Blush Basin’. This is a nude shade which gives you a natural look. The second shade is ‘Fuchsia Flood’ which is a pink fuchsia. I have found the satin range to be quite moisturizing, non-drying and good colour staying power. They are also nicely pigmented and I didn’t experience any bleed through from the edges.

The glossy lipstick is in the shade ‘Blush Ripple’ which is a subtle red tone with slight golden shimmer. Its a lipstick but it looks like you have applied gloss.  It gives a shiny, glossy look to the lips. Like the satin range, it moisturizes the lips very well but I did need to re-apply as it didn’t stay all day.

The range of shades is excellent so all tastes will be covered but I do think they are a bit pricey compared to L’Oreal or Max Factor lipsticks but they are often on offer in the shops.

Elizabeth Arden Green Tea & Honeysuckle EDT!

Hi Everybody,

You can tell summer is nearly with us. The trees are greener, the sun is warmer and the mood is happier!

Eau de Toilettes are perfect for the summer, light and not so heady compared to some perfumes. Elizabeth Arden have a collection of light, summery EDT scents called the Green Tea collection. The collection now comprises of 20 different scents. This collection should be perfect for me as I love green tea!

I have been using Green Tea & Honeysuckle EDT from the collection. The bottle is a elongated, flat bottle and decorated with flowers. The first spray is full of citrus fruits. Lemons, bergamot, a hint of lime and of course green tea. The dry down is white floral and freshness. Honeysuckle, jasmine, ylang-ylang are the floral highlights with a sweetness of peach. The base notes has a touch of warmth with musk but the one scent you feel throughout is the green tea. It is a EDT so lasting power is good, I can still feel it after a few hours so you can still refresh it with a few more sprays without overpowering or becoming heady.

It is a green scent. This would be a perfect match with a flowery dress for the summer daytime days. I think any age can wear this sweet, soft, summery scent. Go find a bottle and try it!

March & April Favourites!

Hi Everybody,

I decided to combine March and April favourites so here we go!

SKINCARE

L’Oreal Smooth Sugars Nourish Scrub  is a new range of skincare from L’Oreal. I decided to try this but they have 2 more different scrubs in the range. It is a fine brown sugar scrub made from cocoa butter, coconut oil and cocoa grains. It felt gentle on the skin and exfolitated well and didn’t irritate or leave me with any breakouts. The skin felt very soft, smooth and velvety. You can also use this on your lips and the smell is delicious.

Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris is a alcohol free toner. It is for combination/oily skin and I love to use it in the evenings as an extra cleanse on my skin. It doesn’t dry or irritate my skin. I do love toners and I will always use them.

Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz is a 100% organic product and is reasonably priced! I use this in the mornings to refresh and hydrate the skin. It just the start my skin needs before I do my make up or if I want to be make-up free. The smell is pleasant with the damask rose scent and my skin loves it.

I have been using Clinque’s All About Eyes for a couple of months in the mornings. It is a gel cream constituency and you only need to use a tiny amount underneath the eyes. The makeup didn’t crease underneath and it really helped to hydrate the eyes and didn’t irritate me. It really helped to keep fine lines at bay!

I have been using Juliette Armand Elements 05 DNA Repair Serum for 4 months now and I have seen an improvement to my skin. The spots scars have diminished and the skin looks more even and less redness. It contains BIFIDUS bacterium and milk proteins and this stimulates the enzymatic system of the skin to identify and repair damages to the DNA of the skin cells. The skin feels less dehydrated and no irritation either. It absorbs easily into the skin and unlike other serums, my make up and foundation never slipped from my face. I still have another month left of product so I may have to buy another bottle!

MAKEUP

I found the Clarins Summer Eye Palette on sale in Debenhams. It is a beautiful designed 4 colour palette with a nice size mirror included. The colours are a nude-golden, brown-orange combination. You can do a natural look or even a smoky look for the evenings. Nicely pigmented and easy to blend shades. Perfect for the summer glow for the eyes!

I have never tried any products from this brand but the CYO Kohl Gel Eyeliner ‘Highflier’ has been excellent. The dark turquoise eyeliner was what I was looking for the summer. It was easy to draw the flick on the eyes and it didn’t smudge, crumble or fade and stayed on for a number of hours. The other great thing is that you don’t need to sharpen it as it is an retractable eyeliner!

YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils is a little sample I have been trying. The bristle brush is small but easy to apply with. It gave the lashes lift and volume. No smudge or crumbs under the eyes either, so a really great everyday mascara. I now have to buy the full size version!

Lancome Shine Lover ‘O My Rouge 120’ is a vibrant shiny lipstick. The colour is a raspberry red with hydrating glossy qualities. The staying power of the lipstick is excellent. It gives the lips a juicy fruity effect. It feels like a balm but with the staying powering look of a lipstick.

Barry M Holographic Lip Topper ‘Mermaid’ is right up my street. It smells fruity but not sickly. On the lips the colour is stunning. You can use it on its own or on top of lipstick, either look is amazing.g  The staying power on the lips is excellent and I wear it in the daytime too! A bit of bling-bling for the lips and the price is excellent too!
